Today, a client came to see me whom I hadn’t seen in almost 13 to 15 years.

At some point, she started going somewhere closer and more convenient. But today, she wanted a change. She wasn’t exactly sure what she wanted—she just knew she wanted to feel different. And somehow, my name came back to her mind.

That made me so happy. After all these years, when she was ready for a change, she remembered how I made her feel and trusted me with her hair again.

She wanted something professional, beautiful, a little sassy, and—most importantly—easy to manage. So before cutting, I looked at her face, her hair texture, her lifestyle, and what she was trying to achieve.

Because a haircut should never be one style made for everyone. Every person has a different face, a different hair structure, and a different story. My job is not simply to cut the hair. My job is to understand what is missing and create something that truly works for the person sitting in my chair.

College-Ready Curl Transformation ✨

My beautiful young client is getting ready to head off to college and wanted her fine hair to be easier to manage.

Her natural texture was challenging—she had frizz and less curl definition at the top, while the underneath had an uneven curl pattern.

She was considering smoothing the frizz out, but I didn’t think making her hair straighter was the best answer. She already had natural movement, and I didn’t want her to lose that.

Instead, we chose a soft perm designed to work with the curl she already had—creating a more consistent curl pattern, better definition, and the appearance of fuller hair.

The goal wasn’t to change her hair.

My client wanted a fresh change while keeping the length she loved around her face. We customized her haircut by leaving the front longer, shortening the back, and creating soft layers to remove weight and enhance the natural shape of her hair.

She brought in an inspiration photo, and I tailored the cut to suit her hair texture, face shape, and lifestyle. The result is a modern, flattering shape that’s easier to style and brings out the beauty of her naturally wavy hair.

Today was Sarah’s refresh appointment, two months after her extensions. ✨

When we first installed her extensions, we kept her roots untouched because her hair needed time to recover. Instead, we added soft blonde balayage through the mids and ends to protect the integrity of her hair while still giving her a brighter look.

Now that her hair is healthier and stronger, we were able to take the next step. We added a combination of fine highlights and balayage to create a softer, more seamless blend from the roots. Then we toned everything down with a cooler, ashier gloss to reduce contrast and give her a more natural, dimensional blonde.

Today was all about creating a color that works with my client’s lifestyle. She had about two inches of new growth with a few gray hairs and wanted a softer, lower-maintenance look without going dark. After over a year of being blonde, she felt the lightening had made her hair feel dry, so it was time for a change.

We softened her overall color while keeping the front money piece brighter to maintain that beautiful, sun-kissed glow she loves. Then I refreshed her haircut with soft layers for more movement and fullness, while keeping enough length so she can still pull her hair back comfortably. The result is healthier-looking, shinier hair with a natural blend that will grow out beautifully and require less maintenance.
