I see and hear this so often. Hell I've been there myself.
So I ask this:

how can you truly build a future with someone when you continually stay in the past and keep those relationships open from the past? What are you holding back from? What are you afraid of? And do you realize what it does to your partner or how much it hurts them?

And I say this:
if you cannot let go of the past or past relationships then what are you doing? And why would you do that to the person that you say you want to build a future with?

Do better, be better. Respect yourself and respect your partner. Those people in those relationships are your past so let them go and release them. Put your energy into building a future with someone.
There's a reason those relationships failed there's a reason they're in the past. Remember that and remember why you're trying to build something new.
