It's the little things that get me excited!

This beautiful client's presentation is the perfect example of why a full facial assessment, especially when it comes to filler and biostimulators like Sculptra and Radiesse, is so important! When a client comes in with a "pain point" - an area that bothers them the most, that they look at in every picture they are in and that makes them feel less confident - it is the injector's responsibility to:

1. Be honest about expectations and if the result the client is looking for is attainable with what the injector has to offer (whether it be tox, filler, laser, etc), and

2. To understand the anatomy and age-related changes that are contributing to the client's pain point so that the source can be addressed.

This client was bothered by her under eye. After a full facial assessment, my recommendation was not for filler in the tear trough though, but rather to rebuild some support and volume in the mid-cheek. And I think the results speak for themselves!

So, if you come in to see me for lip filler and I let you know that we need to add support AROUND your mouth to give you the results you are looking for with your lips, understand that it is not me pushing you to spend more money...it's me knowing that without rebuilding the foundation, we won't be able to heal your pain point either. This is why it is SO important for you to find an injector that you trust!

What a shocker it was when I hit my late 30s and suddenly I was struggling with what felt like teenage acne again...I THOUGHT I WAS DONE WITH THIS S**T!!!!

This is a really common struggle I hear in my practice and some of my solutions don't seem to make logical sense...

1. We need to figure out what your hormones are doing if you are late 30s to mid 50s and haven't had them checked or managed. Hormone fluctuations that occur during peri-menopause are a HUGE source for adult hormonal acne.

2. Sometimes when we are having skin struggles, we start doing too much...I went through this when I tried coming off my oral birth control years ago...I developed insane cystic acne on my chin/jawline and neck and I was doing ALL THE THINGS to try to combat it. Finally one of my bestie esthi's told me to stop f*$king with my face🤣 I had inadvertently stripped my skin barrier and adding more active ingredients, peels, microneedling on top of my fragile base was just making things so much worse.

3. Sometimes the answer is counterintuitive -- Using an OIL based cleanser can be fantastic for acne-prone adult skin; Maybe you need to be doing less; Moisturizing the skin routinely actually decreases the body's propensity to over-secret it's natural oils; and sometimes ADDING hormones is the answer (hormone replacement stops the crazy fluctuations of hormone levels from the ovaries and STABILIZES the hormone levels....our brains LOVE stable and consistent!
