There is the very real pull of trying to stay connected and aware while not falling prey to doomscrolling and hopelessness.

You are not helpless, and you are not alone. Here are some ways that you can show up for yourself and your community:

1. Take news/social media breaks
2. When you do check the news, try to focus on one or two stories. Trying to follow everything will add more stress.
3. Take training in community support and organizing. If you want to be on the frontlines, make sure you have the tools to keep yourself and your community safe.
4. Join a mutual aid organization.

and 5, most importantly:

Do not feel bad if you need to disengage for a bit. We can only hold space for so many things, and as hard as it can be, we need to try to keep up with our regular needs and routines.
