was definitely a wild ride πͺππͺπΉπ I got to see an early screening last night, I have quite a bit to say so here goes:
This film was weird, unsettling, liminal and definitely uncanny. I'll start off by saying I didn't hate it, but ... I didn't love it either. This was one of my most anticipated movies of the year but it didn't live up to exactly what I wanted it to be, which isn't necessarily bad, just not what I expected, I guess? The 2 main characters and the Backrooms itself have a lot of subliminal similarities, by the end you could really see the way it all circles back to them (imo the therapist most of all) and how everything in human's lives truly are a pattern (that will make more sense when you see the movie, I don't want to give too much away). The imagery, lighting and cinematography was amazing, even scenes that weren't in the actual Backrooms were filmed in a way that made it look extremely liminal and I loved that SO much! It also gave me crazy 90s nostalgia, definitely felt like it was actually the year 1990. I wish a few more things were touched on a bit more, and I think you need to watch Kane Parson's (the director) Backrooms lore on YouTube before watching this film as it seems to be a kind of continuation or a story built off of it and the movie will make more sense understanding the foundation. Overall, it was enjoyable and unnerving, I will definitely be watching it again once it's on streaming services! πΊπͺπͺπ Backrooms is out in theatres this Friday, May 29th! π₯Ό

Saw a special screening The Mandalorian and Grogu with in theatres earlier this week and it was AMAZING ππ I actually am not a huge Star Wars fan (never seen any of the movies π ) but I absolutely LOVED this film! I luckily have my husband who is a fan of Star Wars to be able to explain anything to me if need be. was so much fun, and the use of actual puppets & practical effects instead of CGI really made my heart happy! and Grogu is out in theatres tomorrow, Friday May 22nd! πͺ
