Let me tell you about MILBON
After my highest selling shampoo and conditioner line reformulated, i realized I couldn’t keep selling it to my clients. This sent me I went on a hunt to find something comparable. I tried about a dozen shampoo and conditioner lines. Thanks to , ended up finding something even better.
Milbon was a game-changer for me. You can literally feel the difference after the first wash, especially when your hair is still wet (that smooth, healthy slip is unmatched). The smallest amount goes SUCH a long way, which means the bottles last forever.
And once you invest in the shampoo and/or conditioner (they appropriately refer to it as “treatment), you can come to me for refills and save up to $20 instead of re-buying bottles. Less plastic, more money in your pocket, better hair all around.
I believe in the product so much. Not ready to fully commit? No problem, I’m happy to send you home with a sample at your next appointment. Because I know you’ll be back to buy it.
Can we also take a moment to appreciate this song I found 🤣🤣🤣

10 years. 4 salon moves. 3 rebrands. 2 kids. 1 wild, beautiful journey.
Today marks a full decade since I took the leap and went off on my own as a hairstylist — and what a ride it’s been.
I started out doing hair AND nails (because why not do it all?). There were photo collages with loud patterned backgrounds, editing with mirrored images (yep, we were all doing it), and a whole lot of figuring things out as I went.
I’ve taken more classes than I can count, survived a pandemic by teaching people how to wash their hair from my guest bedroom, and discovered that true growth often comes from the messiest, most unexpected places.
In 2019 I joined and my life was changed — not just professionally but also personally because it gave me the gift of who has become an invaluable part of my life.
Through it all, I got married, became a mom (twice!), and built something I’m really, truly proud of.
This post is a love letter to the past 10 years — to every client who sat in my chair, every lesson, every pivot, every rebrand, and every moment that brought me here. THANK YOU!!!!
Please enjoy this curated carousel of photos that I think really encapsulates life as “Hair by Amanda Lux” over the last 10 years.
Here’s to the next 10 🖤

Meeting and chatting with awesome people is my favorite part about color appointments.
My clients usually say it’s the shampoo. 🤷🏼♀️

You may have noticed that I throw around the phrase “lived-in color” quite a bit. But what is it?
Lived-in color has a soft blend at the root area (usually using the hair’s natural color) with either natural dimension or high impact pops of color through the ends.
There are several color techniques that can be used to achieve this look. Balayage, foiling, shadow root, root melt… just to name a few.
My goal when creating lived-in looks is to give you a beautiful, low maintenance color that doesn’t require you to be in my chair every 4-6 weeks. I want you to be able to love your color for AT LEAST 10-12 weeks!
I love creating works that require less time spent in my chair, and give you more time for the things that matter.
Have you considered a more lived-in look? Head to the link in my bio to talk color with me!

⚡️Let’s talk static!⚡️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The minute the temperature dips 🥶 and the air dries up electrons, which are negatively charged, fly off your hair and leave your strands with positive charges 🔋. Two positives always resist each other. So if your hair strands are all positively charged, we get what? 👩🏼🏫
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚡️⚡️⚡️STATIC!!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
The hair strands literally refuse to lay next to each other.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are a few hacks to help you out:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚡️Rub a dryer sheet on your hair
⚡️Run some light moisturizer or serum through your ends
⚡️Dry your hair with an ionic blow dryer.
⚡️Spray some leave-in conditioner on a comb and comb through the ends
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Save this post for the next time the temps drop and your hair rises!!! Like today… ⛄️ ❄️

Happy 3rd Anniversary to my home away from home, !!!
In 2019 I left my old salon to have a baby. Not only would I be returning to work a completely different person but I would be coming back to a completely different place.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's been a wild ride since then. Closures, quarantines, kids... We've all been through one hell of a ride together and I can't imagine doing it with a more amazing group of humans.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
and , thank you for the most amazingly gorgeous salon home. You've put so much heart into this place and it shows everyday as our clients comment on the beauty of the salon.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
, , , , and gidget, thanks for being the best co-workers a girl could dream of. Walking into work and seeing all your gorgeous, smiling, drama-free faces everyday is consistently at the top of my gratitude list.

A few strategically placed pieces can sometimes make just as big of a pop as a full head of foils.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When giving natural-looking dimension, I like to think about where the sun hits. This gives the most pop and notice. It can truly transform a look while still keeping a person feeling like their natural self.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sometimes all people need is a little dimension around the hairline to feel completely refreshed.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you are one of my low maintenance color clients and thinking something like this is all you need to get you to spring, head to the link in my bio and book the “bronze level color session”!

Did you know its a lot quicker and easier of a process to go darker with your hair than it is to go lighter?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Unless you have hair that has never been touched with any type of color or chemical, its most likely going to take multiple appointments, plenty of patience, and an arsenal of at-home support products in order to get where you want to go all while keeping your hair strong and healthy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let me explain why!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Once you have pre-existing color in your hair and you want to go lighter, you have to break through that hair color, as well as our own naturally existing pigment. Permanent haircolor DOES NOT lighten hair that has already been colored. This means you have to use a lightener (bleach) and work gradually towards a lighter shade, depending on how much lighter the end goal is.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This can be done several ways but it is important to know that in order to keep the hair healthy, this may not be achieved in one sitting.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So why am I blabbing on about this?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Well I think it is important to know when making the decision about a HUGE change. Its usually easy to take those blonde locks dark during the cool fall/winter months but if you know you are going to want to be bright blond again at the first buds of spring, we may want to talk about a subtle darkening using some not-so-permanent colors.
