🫁Lung health may not be a thought for many people until someone’s airway is compromised.

👩🏾‍⚕️We have all heard and some of us have seen first hand someone that has required a breathing machine, ventilation or inhalation.

The lungs are the foundational organs of the respiratory system, whose most basic function is to facilitate gas exchange from the environment into the bloodstream. It is a vital organ that does not receive enough notoriety and entails much more than merely the cessation of smoking. 🚬

🤧With the cold, flu, and viral season among us it’s imperative to strengthen our lungs during this season and develop a regimen to optimize our lung function.

🌱This nighttime respiratory herbal blend has an abundance of herbs that supports not only the immune system but overall lung health.

😷Mullein is the primary herb in this blend that is a valuable herb for coughs and congestion. The leaves and flowers are often used to reduce mucus production.

💦Marshmallow root also supports the lungs by soothing the mucous membranes that are inflamed from respiratory conditions.

😴Valerian root functions as a relaxant in the body allowing rest and healing to be facilitated in the lungs.

The blend can be taken at night as a tea or used as an inhalation for added benefits.

Here are 3 simple ways to enhance your lung health:

🏃🏾‍♀️Exercise- When you are physically active, your heart and lungs work harder to supply the additional oxygen your muscles demand. Just like regular exercise makes your muscles stronger, it also makes your lungs and heart stronger.

🧘🏾‍♀️Deep Breathing- This can help you get closer to reaching your lungs’ full capacity.

🌱Essential Oils- Research has shown that using a nasal spray containing a blend of eucalyptus, peppermint, oregano, and rosemary extracts can improve a sore throat, hoarseness, and other cough-related symptoms.

Let’s take a moment to highlight the women we know that are battling breast cancer 💪🏾

Globally, breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer death in women. In the United States, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second most common cause of cancer death in women.

The etiology of breast cancer is unknown but it is suspected that estrogen plays a role in its development. Estrogen promotes cellular growth in the tissues of the breasts and reproductive organs and cancer is a disorder of unrestrained cellular growth.

Because underarm antiperspirants or deodorants are applied near the breast and contain potentially harmful ingredients, several scientists and others have suggested a possible connection between their use and breast cancer. However, no scientific evidence links the use of these products to the development of breast cancer.

It is imperative to recognize that the breast actually starts in the armpit. This is why when women have their breast exam, the provider generally palpates the axillary area first. We must also understand that the skin is a portal of entry into the body. Meaning, anything we apply to our underarms enters our bodies and can potentially affect our breast.

In our society we have been conditioned to wear antiperspirant deodorants around the clock, but do we really need them? Most people are convinced that they wouldn’t be able to function without them. Many would be surprised to know that the body can go without antiperspirant deodorant AND not smell like old garbage.

Most people don’t want to spend $10 on a non-aluminum deodorant. Instead, try fresh lemon or lime. It works just as well.

Dietary factors, obesity, being overweight, hormone replacement therapy are potential risk factors for developing breast cancer.

Women who choose to breastfeed for at least several months may also get the added benefit of reducing their breast cancer risk.

Have you experienced the greatness of sea moss?

It’s the one food that has transformed my mind and enhanced my body in remarkable ways.

Believe the hype, HOWEVER, just know not all sea moss is created equally and there are manipulated forms being sold knowingly and unknowingly. This could cause individuals to not receive the full benefits that sea moss has to offer.

Sea Moss should be wildcrafted. Meaning it was harvested in its natural environment, the ocean.

Keeping sea moss in it’s original habitat allows it to absorb its nutrients from the rocks and when we consume this seaweed we reap the benefits.

A process that is much more than a trend for weight loss. It is a lifestyle regimen that will aid in the achievement of health goals.

We’ve all heard of detox teas and diet supplements for weight loss but have we truly meditated on the detox process and understand it’s importance.

Detoxing the body is an action that entails releasing toxins from the body in a short period of time. Detoxes are short- term and provide oftentimes immediate results.

Toxins are eliminated from the body mainly through our urine, me**es, bowel, and sweat. When detoxing it is imperative that you drink plenty of fluids to remain hydrated. Women may notice heavy menstrual bleeding if detoxing around their period as the body uses the uterine shedding as a vessel to release toxins from the body.

Detoxing is pivotal because our bodies are consuming an abundance of toxins daily that are not being released at the rate that it should. When toxins remain in the body it creates chronic conditions and ailments that interfere with our health and quality of life.

Daily bowel movements, hydration and exercise all facilitate elimination of toxins from the body and should be a routine incorporated into our lives.

Detoxing the body provides a clean slate and strong foundation when attempting to improve health with herbs and holistic living.

There are many ways to detox the body; fasting, herbal teas, colon hydrotherapy or supplements are some ways and can be done every 3-6 months.

My husband asked me why do I always keep two of the same book? 🤔

🙌🏿 It has become second nature and a habit that I am thankful that I’ve acquired, but one that I realize is completely odd to many people.

📚I’ve been a bookworm since I was 9. My mother introduced me to books at an early age so the library became my second favorite place after my home.

💳I go to the library EVERY week and I even know my 14 digit library card number by heart. I have 3 libraries in my community and I am the only person of color that I’ve ever seen.

🙋🏾‍♀️When I first moved here, there were little to no books by people of color. I was constantly requesting books by people of color from other libraries that they noticed the demand.

💃🏾Now, there are endless books by people of color and even a waitlist for the newest books by POC. After 7 years, I am still the only person of color I’ve seen at the library but there are more faces on the shelf that look like mine.

When I am in learning mode I go hard. Therefore, I actually need three books. One that stays in my bag, one that stays at home, and we can’t forget the digital version that I can view on my computer during my downtime at work and don’t let me find out that there is an audio version that I can listen to on my way to work.

In other words, you won’t catch me without a book.

👜Books keep me Savvy and all aspects of literacy are something that we need to preserve. I don’t invest in designer bags, I invest in books.

Have you used books as a resource to better your health?

"My alma mater was books, a good library. I could spend my life reading, just satisfying my curiosity." (Malcom X)

A whopping 80% of my audience revealed that their immune system is NOT prepared for the viruses that are right around the corner.

Hopefully, this will provide you with some education, insight and inspiration to start enhancing your immune system.
Elderberry is the dark purple berry of the European or black elder tree, which grows in the warmer parts of Europe, North America, Asia, and Northern Africa.

Upper respiratory symptoms are often treated with over the counter drugs, antibiotics, and antiviral medications.

Due to concerns about safety and efficacy, there is a demand for an alternative solution. Black elderberry (Sambucus nigra) has been used to treat cold and flu symptoms, but there are no large-scale studies or meta-analyses.

Supplementation with elderberry has been found to substantially reduce upper respiratory symptoms. An alternative to antibiotic misuse for upper respiratory symptoms due to viral infections, and a potentially safer alternative to prescription drugs for routine cases of the common cold and influenza.

Elderberry has also been found to reduce sinus infection symptoms, lower blood sugar, ease allergies, and fight cancer.

Along with exercise, diet and reducing stress, adding elderberries to your regimen can help boost the immune system.

Let’s stay ready, so we don’t have to get ready.

If you really want to level up your immune system, I highly recommend the Savvy Pack.

Elderberry syrup is NOT recommended for pregnant women, children

Sea Moss is the one food that has transformed my mind and enhanced my body.

This seaweed was first introduced to me by Dr. Sebi. I can recall vividly watching his lecture online where he passionately discussed sea moss. The discussion about the benefits of sea moss didn’t initially captivate me.

However, when Dr. Sebi at the ripe age of around 80 years young dropped to his knees on a hard wooden floor and hopped up like nobody's business all the while continuing his lecture. He said, “ This is the way I check every morning to know that the sea moss is working.”

I saw this with my own two eyes. Needless to say, at that point I was convinced.

Sea moss is a nutrient dense superfood made from the earth. It is not man made and this is why it is important to consume sea moss from a reputable source. There are now sea moss farmers that are growing sea moss in pools.

People around me have been asking me for years to make sea moss for them and I would never commit. It wasn’t until recently that I decided to make sea moss for other people. It took some strong encouragement from God, my husband and my coach but I took the leap.

I launched my shopify store at the end of May 2021 and Her Savvy Health has shipped 200+ orders of sea moss across the nation. I still can’t believe it!

What amazes me even more is that the Savvy Pack is my most popular item. The sea moss paired with the elderberry syrup is a powerful pair. I talk so much about sea moss, most people don’t even know the elderberry is an option until they visit my site.

I wanted to take a moment to thank each and every person that has ordered from me and trust me with their nutrients. I take this responsibility seriously and I am grateful for your support!

I hope you learned something new.

Are you on the right path to living past 100 years of age disease-free, not on any medications, and active?

Imagine if old age didn’t include stress over affording prescriptions, canes, walkers, adult diapers, nursing homes, and dementia.

I know this seems far-fetched in our society, but what if I told you that there are plenty of people all over the world who are living past 100 years of age living active lifestyles with little to no disease in their bodies.

🧘🏾‍♀️Centenarians are a group of people that should be goals for everyone. With the largest population being in Okinawa Japan. These people have achieved successful aging. This term refers to older individuals who are free from chronic disease and continue to function well into old age, both physically and cognitively.

💊According to the CDC, 48.6% of people have taken at least 1 prescription drug in the past 30 days and 24% take 3 or more.
