Curl pattern is the shape your hair naturally grows in. Patterns are classified from a range of 1A (bone straight) to 4C (kinky-coily).

It is rare to have only one curl pattern, as most people have two or three patterns at the same time!

Damaging elements to your hair, such as relaxers, texturizers, dyes, and heat affect your true curl pattern, and can't be repaired unless you cut the damaged hair off.

Hair products cannot change your curl pattern, but they can make it healthier. No matter what curl pattern you have, the key is to learn how to take care of it and rock your styles with confidence!

Hair porosity is your hair's ability to absorb moisture. Porosity falls under three categories - normal, high, and low.

To find out what porosity your hair has, place a clean strand of your hair into a cup of water. If the strand sinks, your hair has high porosity. If it floats, then your hair's porosity is low. If the strand whirls around under the water but doesn't sink to the bottom, then your hair has normal porosity.

Porosity and curl pattern are NOT the same, and they're NOT mutually exclusive. For example, if your hair has a 4C curl pattern, it doesn't necessarily mean that your hair has low porosity.

When you buy hair products, focus more on porosity than curl pattern.
