Southwind Equine Bodywork

Went for a lovely trail ride yesterday with a new horsey friend, Melissa. Not only was it a beautiful day and a wonderful ride, but my boy did so good loading (he’s been on a trailer only twice in the past ten years!), crossing water (which I haven’t done with him in almost as long), and navigating some rough terrain! I love him to pieces!!! 🤎

Had an excellent session this morning! My equine client, a hyper–anxious cribber, became so relaxed that she stopped cribbing altogether, kept yawning and stretching, and ended up lying down for a nap right there in the stall. As soon as we let her out, she went to lay in the sun for a while, which she’s usually too uptight to do. And, as of when I left (after doing another session), she still had not resumed her usually constant cribbing! 🤩

Hey, TN friends! I very rarely ask for things, but I’m going to ask a favor. If any of you know someone who owns horses, could you let them know I am a certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist currently taking on new clients, and share my contact info with them? My horse, who means the world to me, has some health issues and I need the business to be able to afford his medication. I appreciate any help y’all can give to get my name out there! You can also let them know, initial evals are free of charge. Thanks, everyone!

Wishing I’d taken some “before” pictures of this client so y’all could see the progress we’re making!

I was reminded today of why I used to be so passionate about protecting wild horses, and also why I had to take a step back from getting so emotionally involved with the issue and active advocacy.

In school, an entire classroom was read an article excerpt about the controversy, clearly from the side of the ranchers/anti-wild horse people. The inaccuracies, bias, and skewed perspective made me angry! But I had to sit there and hold my tongue while these kids were being given false information.

I wonder just how much damage is being done; how feeding the next generation(s) lies about the issue will negatively impact the future and welfare of our wild horses. 😣

How’s your equine anatomy knowledge?? Without cheating, do you know this one?

Without googling, do you know??
