A little distance
A whole lot of gratitude
Perspective I had to live long enough to earn
Faith for the parts I couldn’t see yet
And enough quiet to hear myself dream again

Two years ago, I couldn’t stand upright without pain. Sweating. Hurting. Watching pieces of my life crumble around me.

Today, I get to enjoy my life.

And whew… that hits different when you remember what it felt like to wonder if life would ever feel good again.

God has brought me through enough endings-that-weren’t-really-endings for me to know better now.

My story doesn’t end just because I can’t see the next chapter.

That’s what this break gave me.

Room.

Room to stop producing.
Stop proving.
Stop trying to figure everything out.

And find out if, underneath all of that, I could still dream up some dope s**t.

Turns out, I can.

The biggest thing I got back wasn’t a business plan, a content strategy or even inspiration.

I got my appetite for my own life back.

And baby… that might be the most important ingredient in the whole recipe.

Bite into the experience.

Today feels different when aviation has been part of your life for 14 years.

September 11 is a day our entire country remembers, but for those of us who have built careers in the airline industry, there’s another layer to it. We work in an industry that was forever changed that morning.

Behind every flight are people. Crews. Customer service agents. Families. Travelers heading home, going to work, celebrating something, or simply trying to get from one place to another.

Today, Nika’s Cupcake Bar pauses to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the families who still carry that loss, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the aviation professionals whose lives and industry were forever changed.

As a business owner, I talk a lot about experiences, connection and the lives we create around the moments we’re given. Today is a reminder of just how precious those moments are.

We remember. We honor. We carry it with us.
