This weekend, I experienced one of the hardest losses of my life. I lost my very first business partner, my friend, Renee.

Renee and I met while working together at a salon in Greensboro, and from the very beginning, we just clicked. I immediately admired her. She was warm, welcoming, incredibly knowledgeable, effortlessly chic, and carried herself with a quiet confidence that made everyone around her feel comfortable. She had a gift for making people feel seen.

In September 2012, we took a leap of faith together and opened the original 329 PM Hair Studio. We combined our creativity, our work ethic, and our business minds to build something we were truly proud of. So many people remember our first salon on MLK, and if you ever walked through those doors, you probably remember Renee. She was a jewel. Our clients loved her, respected her, and trusted her. So did I.

This loss has gutted me. I don’t think I’ve fully processed it yet. When you’ve poured years of your life, your dreams, your creativity, and your heart into something alongside someone, losing them leaves a space that words can’t fully describe.

Today, I’m asking for prayers for her daughter, Marche, her son, Nizaire, and the entire Cromartie, Robinson, and Newell families as they navigate this unimaginable loss. Please also keep her former clients, friends, and everyone whose life she touched in your prayers.

Thank you, Renee, for believing in a dream with me, for the laughter, the lessons, the long days, and for helping lay the foundation of what 329 PM Hair Studio would become. Your fingerprints will forever be a part of its story.
