She’s got a whole lot going on these days, but thankfully keeping this hair fabulous remains on the agenda.

Monday seemed to be Men's Haircut Day, and between clients I traded my shears for hedge trimmers and w**d picking.

At 5'3", trimming hedges mostly involved a ladder and literally throwing myself into the bushes.

Turns out it applies to owning a salon too. Even the jobs you don't love are part of the adventure. 🤗

Hair was given new life, solved the world's problems, and came up with a good game plan on aging super humans so we can keep racing till we are 105. It was productive 2 hours. 😉

This was a fun one!
She's always bringing me new ideas—from rainbow colors to the latest reels she wants me to recreate. And every time she says, "If it doesn't work out, we can just shave my head!" 😂

Thankfully, we haven't had to test that backup plan yet. 😅

What an incredible month June has been!

Looking around Kalon, I'm reminded that creating a beautiful space takes vision, hard work, and countless hours outside of the time spent behind the chair. This month brought refreshed landscaping, a fully restored deck by Jeff Sweet 🙏, and so many finishing touches that make the salon feel even more welcoming.

The best part, though, isn't how the space looks—it's seeing the parking lot full. I've even started walking to work again to leave more parking for clients (and it helps while I'm training for my next race! 😉). Watching the talented professionals at Kalon stay busier than ever is the greatest reward.

Now we're counting down to one of my favorite traditions Toby Keith Month at Kalon! It's almost time for great music, laughter, and a whole lot of fun.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Kalon, incredible team, and female-owned small businesses. We appreciate every appointment, every referral, and every person who walks through our doors.

Cut fresh lilacs right off the property for the salon this morning 🌿

The whole place smells amazing. Little things like fresh flowers, natural light, plants everywhere, and coffee brewing honestly change the entire feel of a space.

We’ve always wanted Kalon to feel calm and welcoming the second people walk through the door.

I recently earned my CrossFit Level 1 Certificate—something I know will bring value to the people in my chair at Kalon . That’s why I’m sharing it here, because what I do has always been about helping people feel better, not just look better. It’s education in movement, mechanics, nutrition, and helping people build strength for everyday life.

Biggest takeaway? Everything is connected. How we stand, move, and take care of ourselves matters now and later. Long days, stress, posture, and everyday wear and tear add up for a lot of people.

CrossFit has been my secret sauce for running circles around people, and I don’t gatekeep that. If you’ve been feeling stuck, tired, or like your body is working against you, there is hope—and small changes can make a big difference. If I can help even one person feel stronger, move better, build confidence, and have more energy, it was worth it.

Grateful for the support and mentorship from the team at CrossFit Dubuque through this journey. This is only the beginning. 💜
