Unlike dermal fillers, neuromodulators don't fill wrinkles from beneath. Botox (and others like Xeomin and Dysport) instead address your "dynamic" wrinkles. These are the wrinkles that form as the result of a muscle contraction under the skin. Smiling, frowning, squinting and other facial expressions can cause the dynamic wrinkles. Muscles contract with these expressions and as we age wrinkles and lines form on the surface skin.

When botulinum toxin is injected, it blocks the nerve signals that make muscles contract. The muscles relax, reducing unwanted wrinkles.

What is a “Lip Flip”?
A lip flip is a technique to give the illusion of a fuller lip. Botox or Dysport is injected into the upper lip.
