My pricing is increasing by $5 on haircuts, beard trims, and shaves. I've been trying to avoid a price increase for some time, but unfortunately with the rising cost of rent for both my business and housing, business insurance, utilities and product I occasionally need to increase rates to be able to continue serving our community for the years to come. If you already have an appointment booked with me, the rate at booking will still be honored. I appreciate all of your support and look forward as always to having you as a guest in my chair 🖤

My little q***r punk rock barbershop is in the New York Times! My interview got cut from the article for length which was a bit of a bummer, but it doesn't change that I'm very proud of Deep Cuts and all that we've been able to accomplish and all the gender euphoria we've been privileged to witness in our chairs over the last 3 plus years (as well as the gender euphoria I've experienced behind the chair). It's truly my honor to get to meet so many interesting, wonderful, kind, loving and unique people through my work. Thanks y'all ❤️

Dear friends,

In the span of less than a month, our dear friend Mantis has unexpectedly lost two close family members. Mantis will need to travel out of state to assist with logistics and attend the funeral.

We are asking for assistance to cover the cost of travel and to contribute to their family member’s funeral expenses.

Mantis is a gem. They are a q***r artist of color who creates illustrative and abstract art, stickers, and tattoos. Mantis is also a part of the local music and arts scene, and can be found hanging out with their partner, Gritty, and hiking with their dog Bean.

Every contribution will make a meaningful difference in alleviating their financial stress and allowing them the space to grieve without the added worry of financial hardship.

The Minnesota Mixer makes gourmet, custom cupcakes and is only a mile or two from Deep Cuts. This home bakery loves working on special requests & using local ingredients such as local maple syrup, Bent Paddle beer, and fresh fruit. This time of year also means Girl Scout cookie-inspired cupcakes 😍

Local business spotlight!!! The Twin Ports has been so good to me that I would like to pay a little of that back and lend my support to some other businesses in the area that we enjoy.

Positively 3rd Street Bakery is an amazing local bakery with a lot of shop favorites for sale. The Deep Cuts crew specifically loves their everything bagels, sourdough bread, thunder cookies, and wheat free items! Our favorite item of theirs though is definitely the gruyere croissants which are great as a stand alone or cut in half as a breakfast sandwich 😋 They also sell other local goods such as candles, honey, bags, and more!

So last week was literally the best week of my life. I was asked to join a band (P.O.P.), had an extremely flattering piece about myself and released in the newspaper, had my interview on released, was interviewed by the TV news, and won Prom Queen at the q***r prom. The voting for q***r prom was done by applause and the cheering and applause was surreal for me. I have never cried so much in a week and they were all happy tears.

I'm not the best at taking praise but in that moment of applause at the prom, I felt like I truly saw my impact. All these people who get what I'm trying to do and want to live as freely as I want to. It's wild to think that Deep Cuts turns 2 years old next month. Time flies when you're surrounded by love. My island of misfit toys, OUR island of misfit toys that brings us together, thriving.

Home is a feeling and it's one that I never had before I moved to Duluth. I seriously can't see myself leaving. I love the Twin Ports. I love my community. I love the art scene. I love the music scene. I love all the folks in the drag scene here. I love that I spend every day at work talking to my friends. I love that I get to work side by side daily with my best friend and who is like a little brother to me. I love that has created a much needed safe space for folks to get waxed in. I love Duluth. There's no place like home ❤️

Happy Pride y'all! The world is a garbage fire right now, but there's no better time for community and love than when things look dark. Yesterday I had the privilege of tabling for at in Duluth, and today I go to my first Twin Cities Pride. This s**t is the kind of thing I never thought I would be strong enough to go out and do, and thanks to the amazing community and support I have in Duluth, I have never felt more comfortable in my skin. I am a proud Q***r Trans Woman and I wouldn't have it any other way. This is gender euphoria. This is pride. This is happiness ❤️
