I have an exciting announcement! I am now offering Ashiatsu/Barefoot massage here at Wild Iris! I am offering barefoot sessions at a discounted rate for the month of May, bookable on my website.

I have been holding off on launching this modality for a few months just due to my self-critic and wanting to be perfectly confident and comfortable with it. But I have been thinking a lot about when I first finished massage school and only had the tools to do the “cookie cutter” massage they taught us in school. I learned more in my first month working in the field on so many different people than I did in my entire 9 months of schooling! When I remind myself of this, I realize that you don’t just learn something overnight and you’re not an expert instantly. It takes repetition and experience. I have been practicing massage for 6 years now and my massage style has evolved dramatically over the years. I have gravitated toward slow, steady and deep work, and I think that’s what drew me to ashiatsu. I am able to provide consistent, slow, steady, and deep pressure, and I’ve found it to be effective and very relaxing for the client because of the slow pace of the work. It’s very similar to the type of massage I already provide, just with my feet! I’ve found this work is also much more sustainable for me, putting less strain on my hands, arms and shoulders.

If you’ve been curious about Ashiatsu/Barefoot massage feel free to reach out, or book a session with me on my website!

Big big thanks to my dad for building me this sweet stool to work on! And thank you to LMT Refinery Minnesota for being a wonderful teacher and resource!

I’m so grateful to get to expand my practice like this, and I thank you all for the support and trust! 🙏🏻

✨ Self-care tip Tuesday ✨
Time to go to the beach! My favorite part of winter has arrived. The beaches are lined with slabs of ice just waiting for you to break them!

I hope you’re finding some time to take care of yourself this winter and in the chaos. You can’t pour from an empty cup!

Reach out or check the link in my bio if you’d like to get in for some self-care and massage. ✨

Tend your inner garden 🪴
I crafted this oil and have been working with it at Wild Iris for months! It is infused with mugwort and calendula and smells oh so earthy. Made with these plants that I grew in my garden, I am so excited to offer up some of this oil to you!

In this dry and cold weather I have been using it like crazy on myself and in my massage sessions. It is so good for dry, itchy, irritated winter skin!

In Scandinavian traditions mugwort is used in teas and dream pillows to induce visions and dreaming, while calendula is a lovely herb for skin-care because of its moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties. Plus, calendula is a beautiful flower that reminds me of the sun! Which I have been soaking up every minute I can when it is shining. I’ve come to realize that this oil is a lovely blend of our depths and our light. I have some available at the studio for $15 a bottle.

DM me if interested, also available on my website at the link in my bio!

I hope you are taking good care of yourself!

✨Self-care tip not on a Tuesday ✨

These first couple snow falls have reminded me of how much I loved playing outside in the winter when I was a kid. Winter felt magical and so did the snow.
At some point that magic seemed to dissipate.. but I had a thought that what if it’s still magical out there in the snow, but now instead of seeing the magic like we could when we were kids, now we get to BE the magic? Just wanted to share some of my whimsy thoughts. Go be merry and magical!

I’m going to play this winter. Make snowmen, forts, and caves, snowshoe, and just lay in the snow. It makes the hot cocoa taste better I swear!

✨Self-care tip Tuesday ✨
I feel like I’m already feeling the effects of my shoulders being by my ears because I’m cold, so I’ve been spending a lot of time with my tennis ball in a sock! And bonus if you put a second tennis ball in the sock you can get some really nice traction on the back of your neck when you lay on it.

And a gentle reminder to go easy on yourself this holiday season, drink water, and practice allowing yourself to rest! The early dark evenings are a great reason to curl up with your favorite blanket and relax. 🫶🏻

✨ Self-care tip Tuesday ✨ Back at it again, and all you need is your body and your presence. Take care of yourself!

I got to spend 3 days with some amazing massage therapists learning Ashiastu/Barefoot Massage! I am so excited to bring barefoot massage to my practice at Wild Iris! Stay tuned for the launch of that! 🫶🏻

Barefoot massage allows gravity-assisted compression and slow, controlled compressive foot pressure to reach deeper layers of muscle safely and comfortably.

Honestly, I was surprised how amazing it felt to receive this work: deep, relaxing, and effective. I’m so used to receiving massage with hands, that I didn’t know what to expect. But this blew me away! So grateful for the opportunity to learn with these gals! 🤍
