The History Behind Braids: What You Need To Know | Before the Gram | INSTANT 01/30/2018

Did you all hear about the Braid Kontroversy between Kim Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan? Hilarious, right? Anyway, as mentioned before, when I was a teenager, I loved wearing braids! Glad to see others having fun with those gorgeous braids, too!
If you think you know everything there is to know about braids, think again. You may know how to braid it or call one or two friends over to do it for you, but there’s a lot you may not know about braids. These 20 braid facts may just blow your mind, or at least make you rethink what you know about braids.

1. "Hair braiding has a long history, dating back at least 5000 years.
2. It has been a big part of many cultures all around the world including Africa, Asia, the Americas, and even Europe.

3.In Africa hair braiding can be traced back as far as 3500 B.C. There, it was a social event among women.
4. In Europe during the Renaissance, the French braiding was used to keep the hair as clean as possible as it wasn’t always an option to bathe as often as you might think.
4. Aztec women, in the Americas, would take narrow strips of colorful cloth (nice idea) and braid them into their hair then wind the braids around their heads.
5. In Egypt (which is in Africa), hair braiding was practiced on wigs that Egyptian (African)!royals wore.

6. Braiding has more than one function. In Africa, braiding is still a chance to socialize, and there are some particular styles that are specific to your social standing in the community.
7. Hair braiding can have the function of passing down a tradition. 8. In Europe, as we mentioned, braiding was used to keep the hair clean, and as surprisingly as it may sound, some people today still wear braids when they don’t have time to wash their hair.
9. Along with helping to keep it clean and neat, having your hair braided keeps it out of the way while you are working. This was one of the main functions for hair braiding among Native Americans. 10. Furthermore, hair braiding can also serve a cultural function. For example, among the Hopi tribe, only married women can wear their hair braided.
11. Today, hair braiding is the function of style ( yassssss!), rather than anything else.
12. There is a variety of ways to wear your hair in braids and different braid hairstyles.

13. Having your hair braided can help your hair look amazing👀, you can easily change your hairstyle and be different every day.

14.It also protects your hair because it helps prevent split ends.

15. If you decide to braid your hair on a regular basis, you give it a beneficial break from the daily washing that can be harmful to your hair (just use coconut oil, okay? One to try is Natural (Vegan) No smells BYH Coconut oil available at www.babyyourhair.com

16. Braiding doesn’t eliminate the need to wash your hair. You should still wash your hair regularly when you have braids.

17. Keep in mind that braids don’t have to be tight to be effective.

18. If your braids are too tight, it could damage the hair, breaking it and pulling the hair follicle. It could cause headaches as well.

19. If you are looking for a creative and skilled professional to braid your hair, you should consult JaeMalik in MIAMI, FL at Ro's Shop located at 6403 NW 7th Ave

Miami, FL 33150

20. You will be provided with many options to chose from and will leave the hair salon/spa with a brand new hair style"

10 Tips On How To Make Your Hair Healthier.

1. Use natural hair products like BabyYourHair.com.
Most commercial conditioners and shampoos, especially the cheaper brands, contain harsh chemicals and detergents, which can dry out and damage your hair. When shopping for hair products, always try and choose the ones that contain natural ingredients and are sulphate free.
2. Eat healthy foods.
Another tip on how to make your hair thicker and fuller naturally is to adjust your diet. Your diet also has an important part to play in the health of your hair. To help promote hair growth eat high protein foods and foods that contain zinc, vitamins B, C, D, and E. Increase your consumption of foods like seeds, nuts, vegetables and eat more protein rich food, such as poultry and dairy products.
3. Avoid using hot tools.
The heat from blow dryers and flat irons can dry out your hair, and make it brittle, which will lead to more hair loss. So our next tip on how to make your hair thicker and fuller naturally is to avoid using tools that use heat or, turn the temperature setting down low.

4. Treat wet hair with care.
When hair is wet it becomes fragile, so never dry your hair roughly with a towel; instead, pat it dry, or leave it dry naturally. Also be careful when brushing wet hair. Start with a wide toothed comb and don’t tug on tangles.
5. Don’t shampoo every day.
Another good tip on how to make your hair thicker and fuller naturally is to avoid daily shampooing. Shampooing your hair every day will also make it brittle and more prone to breakage. Try washing your hair only every third or fourth day and that will allow more of your natural oils to moisturise your hair.
6. Try a flax seed rinse
Flax seeds are full of the essential fatty acids that your hair needs to grow full and thick. You can make your own flax water, by soaking flax seeds in a bowl of water for four days. Then, apply the water to your scalp and leave it on for about fifteen or twenty minutes, before rinsing out again.
7. Hot oil massage
Here is another great tip on how to make your hair thicker and fuller naturally: warm some natural oil like olive or coconut oil (but make sure it’s not too hot and comfortable to touch), and then massage it into your hair and scalp. The massaging will help to improve the blood supply to your follicles and the natural oil will moisturise and nourish your hair.
8. Fenugreek paste
Also called ‘methi’ seeds, fenugreek seeds are a good source of vitamins, iron and protein and they are a great ingredient for an all-natural, hair thickening treatment. Soak the seeds for about eight hours, and then grind into a paste. Apply the paste and leave it on your hair, for around twenty minutes before rinsing out with warm water.
9. Avocado
Another popular treatment that can help make hair thicker and fuller naturally is avocado mask. Avocado is also a well-known, nourishing, hair treatment that can help promote the growth of thicker hair. You can make a simple avocado hair mask by mashing the flesh of one avocado with a tablespoon of olive oil. Massage the mixture into your scalp, and leave it on for about twenty minutes and then wash out and rinse with warm water.

10. How to make your hair thicker and fuller naturally? Use Eggs! One of the quickest ways to thicken your hair is to provide it with more protein. That means that one of the best treatments for hair is an egg. Yes, it’s not just a myth! Applying, one or two, beaten eggs to your hair and leaving it for around twenty minutes really will nourish and thicken your hair. Do this, twice a week and combine it with hot oil treatment, once a week, and you will start to see the difference.
Note: Avoid applying homemade treatments to your skin if you have sore scalp, or if you have any skin diseases or open wounds on your head. If you have serous hair thinning problems consult your doctor.
