Today we visited Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and as a mom, my heart is overflowing with pride 💚

Watching Mya walk through another college campus as a potential NCAA Division II student-athlete is something I’ll never take for granted.
The reality is that most high school athletes will never have the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level. To even be in these conversations, taking visits, and being recruited is a huge accomplishment.

What makes this journey even more incredible is that Mya didn’t start wrestling until halfway through her freshman year. Transferred to Comanche her Sophomore year to join Coach Rowell and team … best decision We made 👏🏾

In such a short time, she’s become an OKUSA freestyle & Greco State Champion, OSSAA 2x state qualifier, an All-American, a X2 Fargo qualifier, represented Oklahoma on the national stage as an Oklahoma Dual team member for Team Oklahoma & The OKIE Girls , and now she’s exploring opportunities to guarantee wrestling at the next level.

No matter where this journey leads, I couldn’t be more proud of the young woman she’s become. Every college visit is a reminder of how far she’s come and how much is still ahead.

Keep chasing those dreams, Mya.

No one really prepares you for this chapter.

They tell you about wrinkles. They tell you about gray hair. But nobody talks about the hormonal changes that can make you feel like you’re losing yourself. The mood swings. The anxiety. The exhaustion. The moments where you don’t even recognize the woman looking back at you.

And then there’s the part that hits even harder…

Being a single mom for so many years, your entire identity has been built around raising your babies. Every decision, every sacrifice, every dream revolved around them. Then one day they’re grown, becoming independent, chasing their own futures… and while you’re incredibly proud, your heart quietly grieves the version of life you’ve always known.

Empty nest syndrome is real. Hormones are real. The transition into your 40s is real.

Some days you feel strong. Other days you wonder why you’re crying over nothing or why your mind won’t slow down. It can make you feel like you’re going crazy.
