YOU CAN’T GROW IF YOU’RE NOT WILLING TO BE COACHED. 👏🏼💯

One of the most frustrating parts of being an educator and mentor in this industry is genuinely wanting to see other stylists WIN more than they sometimes want it for themselves.

I don’t coach to criticize. I coach because I see potential. I see the talent, the opportunities, and the MONEY you could be making if you were willing to get out of your own way.

But here’s the thing… Not every correction is an attack. Not every piece of advice is a personal insult. And not everyone who challenges you is against you.

Sometimes the very person pushing you outside your comfort zone is the person who sees what you’re capable of before YOU do.

You cannot expect to elevate your career while refusing to elevate your mindset. You have to be willing to learn, accept constructive criticism, change what isn’t working, invest in your education, and most importantly, KNOW YOUR WORTH AND CHARGE ACCORDINGLY!

Stop undercharging. Stop undervaluing your talent. Stop getting comfortable with just getting by. And stop allowing your ego to stand in the way of your success.

I’ve spent years behind the chair AND educating stylists across the country. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that talent might get you in the door, but your attitude, work ethic, and willingness to learn determine how far you’ll go.

As an educator, I can give you the tools, share my knowledge, and push you toward opportunities. But I cannot WANT your success more than you do.

Being coachable isn’t a weakness. It’s a BUSINESS ADVANTAGE. 🔥

And sometimes, as a mentor, I have to remind myself that I can plant the seeds, but I can’t force anyone to grow.

Stay humble. Stay hungry. Stay EDUCATED. And CHARGE YOUR WORTH! 🩷

MOM NOTE: I will ALWAYS be my daughters’ biggest encourager. I want BOTH of my girls to KNOW WHO THEY ARE, know what they bring to the table, and walk into every room believing THEY ARE HER. 💯

Being a young woman in this world is tough. There will be enough people, situations, and outside noise trying to make them question themselves, compare themselves, or shrink who they are.

So as their Mama, I’m going to make damn sure home is where they are reminded of exactly who TF they are. 🤍

I’m going to brag on them. Post them. Celebrate them. Speak life and confidence into them. Remind them of their worth, their strength, and everything they’re capable of.

I don’t ever want my girls wondering if their Mama is proud of them — THEY’RE GONNA KNOW. 👏🏽

Today we visited Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and as a mom, my heart is overflowing with pride 💚

Watching Mya walk through another college campus as a potential NCAA Division II student-athlete is something I’ll never take for granted.
The reality is that most high school athletes will never have the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level. To even be in these conversations, taking visits, and being recruited is a huge accomplishment.

What makes this journey even more incredible is that Mya didn’t start wrestling until halfway through her freshman year. Transferred to Comanche her Sophomore year to join Coach Rowell and team … best decision We made 👏🏾

In such a short time, she’s become an OKUSA freestyle & Greco State Champion, OSSAA 2x state qualifier, an All-American, a X2 Fargo qualifier, represented Oklahoma on the national stage as an Oklahoma Dual team member for Team Oklahoma & The OKIE Girls , and now she’s exploring opportunities to guarantee wrestling at the next level.

No matter where this journey leads, I couldn’t be more proud of the young woman she’s become. Every college visit is a reminder of how far she’s come and how much is still ahead.

Keep chasing those dreams, Mya.
