🇧🇪 Today, we continue our Belgians in the West series with Dr. Patricia Defechereux.

Dr. Defechereux is the community engagement coordinator for the HOPE Martin Delaney Collaboratory, an international group developing a new approach to cure HIV. She has been critically involved in the birth of PrEP (HIV prevention) for over 2 decades after training as a molecular virologist studying HIV and herpesviruses pathogenesis at the University of Liege.

She is passionate about social justice and the healing power of arts to bring together scientists, public health researchers, artists and community members to reflect on barriers to equal access to health. She also volunteers at a Rescue Pony Club, advocating for horses and nature.
