one of my favorite parts of attending classes is the bouncing of ideas between stylists

you get to talking and you start hearing little things other stylists do to make their hair extension installs a little quicker, more efficient, easier

there are so many “i never even thought about that” moments

& while some might be life changing ….

sometimes it might just be how you glue your thread 😂

how to do this gets asked at our classes alllll the time

do you glue your thread or do you prefer to tie yours off? or do you like to live life on the edge and just let it free fall??

the pros and cons of this are…

pros

1. i can remove a row very quickly — 5 minutes tops as long as there is no matting/tangling: both the removal and thereinstall of a row is much quicker than ktips

2. i can remove a row WITHOUT having to use scissors — while you can absolutely safely remove a row and cut the stitches while still in the head…why stress myself out when i don’t have to

cons

1. if i can remove a bead, so can a client 🫠 — if you’re wearing a beaded row and accidentally lose one or feel it slipping, your row will follow

**i like to compare this to wearing a breaking a nail — it happens, but it’s not the end of the world! always let me know and we can make an adjustment

2. fragility — in my opinion, the rougher someone is with their hair and the the more they may struggle with a row: if you have a super active lifestyle or wear your hair up majority of the time, ktips may be a more durable option for you

if you’ve ever tried to make a low density strip, you know they have the tendency to shrink back together

in order to prevent this from happening, you need to speed up the cooling process and lock the keratin into place

you can do this by

1. dipping your strip into powder keratin

2. using pliers to clamp down before the strip shrinks

3. or use your fingers like you see in this video

i have find that using my fingers to gently pinch the section is the quickest most efficient way to do this

the quicker you move, the less it shrinks
