A time to eat fresh greens, spring weeds, and roots, and drink teas and tonics of spring cleansing herbs, to encourage the flow of the lymph, and support the body’s elimination of toxins after traditionally eating a less fresh and green diet during winter.

I got down to the Eno River this morning and noticed buckeye flowering, among other signs of spring. Thank goodness spring is here!

Did you know that you can treat ear infections effectively with herbs? Yes, you can! I have treated every ear infection my five and twelve year old have ever had with herbs. Neither of them has ever had antibiotics in their combined 17 years. Antibiotics are life saving medicines, and I’m so glad they’re there for when we truly need them… and, in my experience, we can often avoid them when treating ear infections–UTIs and others too!

My daughter had the flu recently followed by an ear infection, and, when my usual standby remedy garlic oil didn’t work, I had an unfortunate but valuable opportunity to treat her infection using Bidens tincture as an alternative to antibiotics. I wrote about it on my blog, including a loose DIY recipe for garlic oil and dosing information for both remedies.
