People use hyperpigmentation and melasma like they are the same thing. They are not, and it changes what I do.

Hyperpigmentation is the general word. Sun, an old breakout, a scratch that healed dark. Melasma is the hormonal kind. It shows up in pregnancy or on birth control, sits in patches on the cheeks and upper lip, and it comes back the minute you let the sun at it. With melasma, sunscreen is not a suggestion. Getting the colour right is most of the job.

Brows are not one pigment out of one bottle. Your undertone, how warm or cool your skin is, how your skin has healed pigment before, whether you have had work done that faded orange or grey on you. All of that changes what I mix.

Twenty seven years in this industry and I have seen a lot of brows that were the right shape in the wrong colour. It ages the whole face and there is no hiding it.

The lines come before the pigment.

Everybody posts the after. Almost nobody shows you this part, which is the part you are actually paying for.

Before anything permanent happens I map your face. I measure where your brow should start, where it should arch, where it should end, and I draw it on so you can look in the mirror and tell me yes or no.

Nobody has ever left my chair surprised by their brows. That is not luck. It is because we agreed on the shape while it was still a pencil line.

If someone starts working on your face before showing you a drawn shape, get up.

Brows, before and after.

Look at the before. Sparse at the front, patchy through the middle, and she had been penciling them in every single morning for years.

Nano brows are not makeup sitting on top of your skin. It is pigment placed into it, one stroke at a time, following the direction your own hair already grows. That is why it reads as hair instead of a drawn on line.

She woke up the next morning with brows. No pencil. That is the whole point of this.

Lip blush, before and after. And the part I want you to know before you book.

Day one they are bright and a little swollen. Day two to five they feel tight and dry. Around day five to ten they flake and lighten so much that people text me in a panic. Then the colour comes back up.

That is not the pigment failing. That is your skin healing over it. About fifteen days in, you have your lips.

Anyone who shows you a day one photo and calls it the finished result is skipping the part that actually matters.
