To all of our friends and family it is with great heaviness of heart that I inform you after 79 almost 80 years of business, as of February 27th 2026 Hyde Park barber shop has closed its doors for the last time.. Opening in 1947 it is the oldest operating barber shop in Durham, giving rise to the legends of George and Rainy Hicks to the great Bobbie Tew and Wayne Mencey! Having five owners, across four locations many clients have come and gone, some have frequented a life time literally.. with the rise of costs, changes in culture and economic challenges wev tried our best to continue to give our best no matter the situation. From blues and reggae summer jams to Christmas carols and toy drives, it has been our pleasure to serve you, the best of clients! ..to all of our friends and family you will always be in our thoughts and prayers, we are beyond grateful for your business and loyalty to the shop over the years! To all Hyde Park family and friends, we thank God for your business and loyalty to the shop over the years! Thank you so much to all who donated to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots we had almost triple what we had last year, im sure little ones every where are having a great big time this morning, but let us not forget the true meaning of this holiday season!!! We will be closed from Dec 25- Jan 5 reopening on the 6th.. From our family to yours we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year!!

To all Hyde Park friends and family the year is winding down once again and the time is quickly approaching for our 2nd annual !! Running now through December 19th if you get a chance to swing by the shop and drop off a new unwrapped toy for a boy or girl this Christmas season and be a blessing to a little one in our community!!
