Neutrogena has initiated a recall of its Makeup Remover Ultra-Soft Cleansing Towelettes after discovering bacterial contamination. The recall affects 1,312 cases of the product, which were distributed across several states in the United States.

The Neutrogena makeup wipe recall, initiated on Sept. 19, 2025, affects 50-count Neutrogena Makeup Remover Ultra-Soft Cleansing Towelettes from lot number 1835U6325A.

These wipes were distributed to Texas, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. The contamination was identified during an internal investigation, which revealed the presence of Pluralibacter gergoviae, a bacterium that can lead to serious infections, particularly in individuals with compromised immune systems.

The FDA has classified this recall as Class II, indicating that the use of the contaminated product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.
