Proverbs
Day 1:
Key Concepts- wisdom, discipline, fear the Lord
The Proverbs of Solomon, son of David, King of Israel
- [ ] 1-7 The Purpose of Proverbs- Foundational principles about how to deal with various problems we will encounter
* Fools despise wisdom and discipline
* When we start loving God as much as possible we won’t desire worldly things, we’ll desire the things of Him. When you get closer to God you start to have a bitter taste for sinful actions or doing things that aren’t Christ-like and treat God with respect- This is conviction!
- [ ] 8-19 The Enticement of Sin
* “if sinners entice you turn your back to them”
* Acquire wisdom by trusting wise counsel. We’re supposed to listen to our elders because they’ve lived through things that we have yet to experience, so we’re supposed to trust their judgement. “If a bird sees a trap being set, it knows to stay away.” Sometimes we don’t see the trap, but if we surround ourselves with those who are wise, they can see it and protect us from it.
- [ ] 19-33 Wisdom shouts in the streets
* "Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise."
* Seek wisdom and APPLY it.
* God’s Correction is Him showing His love for us.
* “Fools are destroyed by their own complacency, but all who listen to me will live in peace untroubled by fear”
* When you’re walking in Purpose you will have peace. HOW AWESOME IS THAT?! We’re all human and we worry by nature and try to fix problems in our own ways and we’re all impatient when it comes to inconvenience. However, when we pause before we jump into fix-it mode and ask God to walk us through it, accompany that prayer with asking for discernment to see God’s leadership in that situation.

These were a few of my notes and key takeaways from Chapter One today! What were some of the things that stood out to you?!
