In this session, our head instructor Anna Sun is guiding a student through brow mapping — the step where the head, arch, and tail are measured and marked using the client's own facial proportions. Those guide lines you see on the model are what create symmetry, balance, and a shape that flatters the client's unique face. Then, we put pen to paper, so to speak, and let the art flow.

Clients only see the finished result. Our students learn the entire process: how to measure, how to design for each face, and how to get client approval on the shape before any pigment is ever deposited.

When it comes to unusual tattooing locations (like a knee, in this case of Scar Camouflage), the same technique of using your pinkie to stabilize your hand applies. In this shot, a student is correctly "anchoring" using their pinkie for stability as they cover up a model's knee scar. Their left hand is in position to help stretch the skin taut if need be.

When tattooing permanent makeup, it's important to stretch the skin taut.

Human skin is naturally elastic and bouncy; if you try to tattoo loose skin, the skin will bounce and push back against the machine, fighting every stretch of the way. By stretching the skin taut, it creates resistance, allowing the needles to puncture the surface cleanly.
