That point in life,,, when it’s time. I’ve lived it.
There comes a point in life when you must step back from those who refuse to take responsibility for their actions—those who twist reality so that every mistake lands at your feet while they walk away unscathed. These individuals thrive on deflection, never admitting fault, always redirecting blame. And the more you allow it, the more you become entangled in a web of their making, where guilt and self-doubt replace clarity and self-worth.
The truth is, this pattern isn’t about you—it’s a reflection of them. People who cannot own their mistakes are often driven by fear, insecurity, and pride so fragile that admitting a flaw feels unbearable to them. It took a long time to realize that.
So instead, they rewrite the narrative. They make you question yourself, your actions, your reactions—until you start carrying a weight that was never yours to bear. Over time, this not only drains you emotionally but can distort your sense of self, making you feel as though you must constantly defend or prove yourself in relationships that should have been built on trust.
But hear this: You are not responsible for someone else’s inability to be honest with themselves. You do not have to live in an environment where accountability is one-sided and understanding is absent. Protecting your peace means recognizing when a relationship is costing you too much—when the price of staying is your own emotional well-being. The gift of life is like a commodity that comes to us once. Once it’s gone,,,,it’s gone.
Choosing distance is not an act of spite; it’s an act of self-respect. You deserve to be surrounded by people who are willing to grow, who can apologize when they’re wrong, and who see relationships as spaces for mutual understanding rather than battlegrounds for dominance. As time goes on, we lose ourselves and our ability to recapture,, what was once,, ourselves. When you choose to step away from toxicity, you are not losing anything of value—you are reclaiming your energy, your confidence, the ability to see once again and your right to exist without the burden of misplaced blame.
The moment you stop allowing others to dictate your sense of worth, you step into your power. And when you do, you not only heal yourself—you set a precedent for how you expect to be treated. So stand firm in your truth, and let those unwilling to grow stay where they are. Your journey is forward.
There’s a reason a rear view mirror is small,,, and call the rear view mirror.
And when you stop looking in that rear view mirror, there’s a whole bunch of sunshine ahead.
I choose to look into the sunshine.
