Even though I’ve taken a step back…..

In 24 years of being a dog mom and a rescuer, my heart has never been more shattered. My Bibbles, Bibs, best friend, big boy, Ridley Scott, left for the rainbow bridge at 7:45am this morning. I have no idea what happened other than the last few days he was showing signs of old age and a cough. He’s always been the loudest, heaviest breathing dog. I looked at him laying on the couch going to get my coat to leave for work, and saw something off in his eyes. I held him as he went to the other side telling him the whole time how much he meant to me and how much I would always love him. To say Dean the kids and I are heart broken and lost is an understatement. Bibs was my best friend, my soul dog, my emotional support animal and I related to him and him to I, more than anything on this planet ever has. He hated just about everyone he encountered until my husband and he immediately became as obsessed with him as he was with me. From the inability to shut my door without his 85 pound head busting through, to the sheer excitement he got, even this morning, of having me wake him up to get ready for the day. Bibs was a homeless pit bull living on the streets of NYC until he found his forever home here. To say he had a ruff life is an understatement. He was able to have grass here, all the good eats, rubs and beds his big heart could imagine. And to have a king sized bed he was able to stretch his big ol body out and hog is something I will forever miss. He came first; always. His brother and sister are completely lost too and my heart hurts for them. Losing Bibs is losing an enormous chunk of this family. Rest sweet my big chunky boy.
