My first year as a solopreneur, I decided I was going to go back to school to become a nurse. For so long I kept saying “if I could go back in time, I would’ve gone to nursing school right out of high school” and one client really encouraged me through her own story to just do it. So I thought to myself, well, four years will go by and I’m either going to be a nurse or four years will go by and I won’t be so which one is it? Two weeks later I was back in a classroom, 5 years after my first degree.

It was a journey to say the least because if you don’t know, you don’t just sign up to the nursing program, you have to get accepted. So I started with the prerequisite classes, and after three attempts, I finally got accepted into one of the toughest programs. This is where it got super real. I couldn’t have made it through without my nursing friends, my support system, and each and every one of my clients throughout the years. Thank you so much for the support through it all it means more than I could even express!

Most people thought I was crazy for going back to school while running a business full time and honestly, it was the toughest few years. The sacrifices, not being able to show up how I used to, the emotional toll of nursing school, adjusting studio hours, moving from Garden City to Massapequa… the list goes on. But now that I’m officially a NYS Registered Nurse, it was absolutely all worth it. I’m so proud of myself for building Bold Beauty Studio into what it is today while navigating life and nursing school.
