Lip neutralization is one of the most difficult procedures in permanent makeup, especially when working with naturally deeper lip tones. It is NEVER a one session process because the goal is not to simply cover existing pigmentation but to gradually rebalance the lips while preserving their natural appearance and the health of the tissue.

Deeper lip tones often contain cool, brown, purple, or gray undertones, with the upper lip frequently showing more concentrated pigmentation. Applying a pink or n**e shade directly over these tones can create an uneven, muted, or unnatural result. Instead, I carefully assess the client’s undertones and customize a corrective color strategy using warm shades to neutralize the existing pigmentation.

This is where my approach is intentionally different: I don’t use a one color fits all formula. Every lip is evaluated individually, and each area may respond differently based on its natural pigmentation, undertones, skin characteristics, and healing response. I build color gradually and strategically, allowing the tissue to heal between sessions rather than overworking the lips in an attempt to achieve the final result too quickly.

The center of the upper lip is often the most resistant area and may require additional work during the follow-ups. This is completely normal and is one of the reasons patience and proper healing time are essential to successful lip neutralization.

These lips have healed beautifully after just the first session, and we are both thrilled with the improvement. The upper lip, particularly the center still needs a little more work, but this is already an incredible transformation. It is also a perfect example of why lip neutralization should be approached as a customized, gradual process rather than a one appointment service. 💋

But I already have plenty of brow hair, why would I need permanent brow makeup?

Permanent makeup isn’t only for people with sparse brows. Even when you have plenty of natural hair, the shape may still look uneven, undefined, or difficult to maintain.

A soft powder brow creates a subtle shadow underneath your natural hair, similar to the effect of a light brow tint or pencil. It helps to:

✨Define a cleaner, more flattering shape
✨Balance small differences between the brows
✨Fill gaps between the hairs
✨Make grooming and shaping much easier
✨Keep brows looking polished without daily makeup

The goal isn’t to replace your natural brow hair or make your brows look heavier. It’s to create a soft framework that works with the hair you already have.

Sometimes the fullest brows benefit the most because with the right shape and just a little background definition, they can look beautifully polished while still remaining completely natural 👌🏼

Your eyeliner pencil can go places permanent eyeliner should not.

One detail that isn’t discussed enough is the waterline. Along this delicate area are tiny openings of the meibomian glands, which release the oils that keep your tears from evaporating too quickly.

Tattooing too close to these glands may contribute to irritation, tear film instability and dry eye symptoms which is why I never place permanent eyeliner directly on the waterline.

Instead, I carefully implant the pigment within and just above the lash line. This creates the illusion of darker, fuller lashes and beautifully defined eyes without unnecessarily compromising such delicate tissue.

Beautiful permanent eyeliner isn’t only about how it looks immediately after the appointment. It’s about thoughtful placement, eye health and how gracefully the result will age.

Sometimes the most professional decision is knowing exactly where not to tattoo 😉 🤍

One question I get all the time is, “Why are two sessions always necessary?”

Because no two people heal the same.

The first session isn’t about making the brows as dark or as bold as possible. It’s about learning your skin.

How does your skin retain pigment? Does it heal cooler or warmer? Is it more resistant in some areas than others? Does it soften the edges quickly or hold onto crisp definition?

Those are things no artist can predict with complete accuracy before your skin has gone through one healing cycle.

The second session is where I can make precise adjustments based on how your skin healed, refining the shape, balancing the color, perfecting the density, etc..

This conservative approach is intentional.

I’d rather build beautiful brows gradually than oversaturate the skin in a single appointment. Overworked skin doesn’t age well, and overly saturated brows often become difficult to refresh, leaving removal as the only option.

My goal is to create brows that heal softly, fade beautifully over time, and can be refreshed for years to come 🤍

Here’s the truth, there is no age limit for beautiful brows, and there is no such thing as a perfectly symmetrical face. As humans, we all have natural asymmetries. One eye may sit slightly higher, one brow may naturally be stronger, one side of the face may move differently when we smile or talk. That’s completely normal.

Permanent makeup is not about forcing your brows into a perfectly identical shape. In fact, chasing perfection often creates an unnatural result. My goal is to create brows that work with your unique facial features, bringing balance, softness, and harmony while still looking like you.

Remember: Brows are sisters, not twins. Faces are naturally asymmetrical. Beauty comes from harmony, not perfection 😉
