There was a time in my life where survival was the only thing I knew…

As a child, I didn’t grow up feeling safe.
I learned how to read energy before I understood my own emotions…
how to stay quiet… how to shrink… how to endure.

I am a survivor of child abuse.
And I am a survivor of domestic violence.

What made it even more confusing…
was that some of the people and places that were supposed to protect me… didn’t.

One of my parents was a police officer—
someone the world sees as a protector.
But behind closed doors… I wasn’t protected.

So I learned something no child should ever have to learn—
that safety wasn’t guaranteed.
that my voice didn’t matter.
that I had to rely on myself to get through it.

And when survival is all you know…
you don’t realize how disconnected you are from your body, your voice, your worth.

I carried that into adulthood.

I became a woman who stayed too long…
who gave too much…
who accepted less than she deserved—because it felt familiar.

Until I had to ask myself…
“Is this the life I’m going to accept… or am I going to choose something different?”

One of the hardest things I’ve ever done…
was choosing to walk away.

From everything I knew.
From people I loved.
From the life I was born into.

That choice didn’t just change me—
it rebuilt me.

I am the curse breaker in my family.

I chose to do the work.
The deep, uncomfortable, healing work.

Because I realized…
if I didn’t learn how to love myself—
I would never understand what it feels like to be loved the way I deserve.

And now… I show up differently.
As a woman.
As a mother.

My children will know safety.
They will know softness.
They will know what it feels like to be seen, heard, and protected.

And Luminous…
was born from all of this.

From the girl who wasn’t protected…
to the woman who now creates safe spaces for others.
