Coming home from our family weekend vacay has been such a whirl wind. The unpacking, laundry and trying to get my teething son back on a routine has taken most of my time. I haven’t posted in nearly a week.
This lovely lady had a complete overhaul done with her hair. Her first service this week was her very first perm! Of course I did a loose beach wave that will help make her daily styling routine easier. She came back later in the week and we cut her hair to match her new wavy texture. I added shorter layers in her crown and added beautiful face framing layers.
Her color was touched up as well using a demi permanent. We colored her hair to a deep chestnut almost black color.
All of this was done just in time for her to hop on her flight home to visit family for the weekend! Whatever your Labor Day weekend plans are I hope you have a great one!!

A few years ago I started seeing something big show up in the hair industry. Black and white transformations. I had done them behind the chair before and they take forever. The hair isn’t the same and you better have $200 of take home products to repair and maintain your hair. You also better leave your hair be for 3 months and let it heal in between no more bleaching or changing. The hair takes awhile to come back down after this type of process.
I am going to be honest all of the big transformation videos became unnerving they set up unrealistic expectations for clients. A 12 hour transformation was put into a 30 second video of course clients wanted it. I don’t blame you because at times I did too.
The truth is I see a bigger transformation in doing things well. I see the best results from mindfully coloring someone’s hair. Placement and color theory and understanding the hair are so important and I have spent the better part of a decade crafting and honing in on those skills.
Another thing I see and notice is that we need to let things go. When you get home your hair will be a different color depending on the lighting in your home versus the lighting in the salon. You need to know it’s okay. No one can micromanage their hair color into looking the same every where they go.
For blondes purple shampoo will help you maintain your blonde in between appointments. Color treated hair does need a salon quality shampoo to heat up keep your color but the truth is depending on the color you went for it might fade a lot, it’s important to know that once you shampoo your hair tue color begins rinsing out. The more you shampoo the more that will come out and that’s perfectly okay.
Sometimes when I have fantasy colored hair I actually get more compliments on my hair later on. This post wasn’t meant to be negative it was really meant for education, truth and to try to push the industry in a more realistic direction. A direction where clients and hairdressers a like can be happier. Clients can love their hair more and hairstylists can be happier behind the chair.
The color pictured is 35 days old and my client Sam loves it. She’s enjoyed how it’s faded and that’s how it should be we should enjoy the evolution not just the Instagram photo that was posted the first day. That photo was taken with beautiful care, extra styling a ring light and by a stylist that’s possibly taken a photography class and edited said photo in Lightroom. Can all of those things be done yes but that’s not the point, the point is to figure out what you love and collaborate with your stylist.

It’s important that your hair color match your personal aesthetic, life style and the level of maintenance you’re able to upkeep.
Alex came in needing something fun and different but as a medical student her time is devoted to studying. She also lives 5 hours away from me, her hairdresser. Also her profession wouldn’t allow her to have anything to wild and crazy.
Lived in low maintenance color was for her! She already has beautiful deep rich hair so we chose something that would enhance that not go against it.
The best part? Her hair works for her and her color will look good for a long time. She has the proper maintenance products for in between appointments and the next time she comes back in we can simply do a toner.
Beach waves diffused
2nd day, 3rd, 4th day hair and more more!
I actually style my hair like this a lot. I wake up in the morning look in the mirror and figure out what I have to work with.
On Tina I used two products to enhance, create and hold texture in her hair. Killer Waves by .murphy was used to wet and reset her hair. I love using an actual style product to wet the hair on day two instead of water. Dry finish texture spray by was used to provide hold and enhance the waves I created using my wand.
Also this was my first tic tok video!

Henry got his 3rd haircut the other day! My husband and I both have thick hair so he was blessed with it as well.
He does a really good job sitting for a 1 year old.

I haven’t talked about this on my page before but I am not the only female entrepreneur in my family. My Mom and Grandma have an amazing business together.
My Mom is passionate about making homemade delicious food. She’s such a giving person and loves serving and connecting with the people she meets through her work.
When I was growing up I can remember my Grandma making floral arrangements, wreaths and wedding flowers sometimes through all hours of the night. She’s taken this same drive and put it into her gift shop/boutique.
Also this event takes place at my families barn. When my Grandpa passed he left the barn and land to his children. Blood sweat and tears were poured into making the barn into a beautiful venue for Weddings and events.

Beautiful blended color for fall, soon the weather will be getting cooler and hair will be getting warmer.
I created Leah’s new look by deepening her root color and adding rich tones. I also used two different red tones that melted beautifully together.
So many people are afraid of red. The truth is there’s an ideal shade of red out there for everyone.

I can see the world beginning to spiral again. So I wanted to get ahead of things.
Basically I want everyone to know I can’t talk about Covid anymore it’s strained my life to much. It’s left deep wounds and scars. I have done my best to cope with the restrictions, people’s opinions and fears.
Today I am saying no more. I care about you and I hope you care about me. I can no longer handle this topic or how we shame people that feel differently than us.
I can’t handle the toxicity. Please try to refrain from talking about Covid with me unless absolutely necessary.
In closing I hope you and you’re family are well and stay well.
I realized my favorite hair days were when I was at the beach. I loved the beautiful S waves the beach helped create.
I found ways to duplicate that and create care free texture.
