Let’s talk about ✨gray blending✨ As a gray blending specialist, the question I get asked most often is: what is gray blending and what does it look like?
Those are great questions for beginning a consultation! The goal of gray blending can depend on a couple of things. For one, your goal doesn’t actually have to be gray! I take into account the percentage of gray you naturally have and compare it to your existing color.
For some women, if they are closer to 90% or more gray, the goal may be to go full-on silver unicorn! These are clients whose goal may be to ditch the color in the near future all together. For other women who only have some gray, low lighting a brunette color or highlighting for blonde is the better option - and also means you don’t have to “go gray!” It is a low maintenance option where the majority of women either get lowlights or highlights about every 12 weeks. That’s only 4 color appointments a year, once a season to keep you looking fresh.
To sum it up, the goals of gray blending are simple: lower maintenance, but also needs to complement your existing features and lifestyle. What does it look like? It can look different for everyone, and that’s the beauty of it!
