"I may or may not have cried on my way home from the today. Some happy tears. Some sad ones.

When I was invited to join the Pawty and sleep over at the shelter to represent my company Modifi Brands' 4/20 collab with MEHS and Keepsake Candle Company, I’ll be honest. I had no idea what I was signing up for.

After this weekend… all I can say is WOW! Toward the end of my 24-hour stay, talking with some of the team, I could barely get words out. The emotions just took over. I still don’t fully have the words, but I have a whole new level of respect, and a permanent place in my heart for Metro East Humane Society.

The team at MEHS pours everything they have into these animals every single day. Spend even a little time around them and you'll you feel it. Their energy, their passion… it’s contagious. They’re doing something really special, and they are some seriously amazing people.

The reality is, shelters are full, and some of these dogs wait a long time for their forever homes. Long hours. Alone. Scared. It takes a toll. But when they get even 24 hours with someone… it changes everything. They open up. They trust again. They feel loved and included. Feelings every shelter pet deserves.
