I built Monarca because I couldn’t find a salon rooted in culture, community, and entrepreneurship.

Over the last few years, we’ve grown into exactly that.

This new look is inspired by my hometown of Morelia, Michoacán, the monarch butterfly, and every woman who has helped shape Monarca into what it is today.

We’re hairstylists and small business owners who believe the spaces we work in should protect our energy, our creativity, and our people.

Our salon exists to serve and support independent stylists first. We lead with morals because we value principles over profit, always.

We’re more than just hairstylists. We’re a safe space for our clients. A place to feel seen, heard, and supported, especially during difficult times. We show up for them with care and integrity.

We know that being independent means we have a voice, and we choose not to stay quiet when it comes to what matters to our community. We’re standing loudly and firmly in that. ❤️

I chose independence because I wanted freedom.

Freedom in my creativity, my education, and my schedule. I knew becoming an independent stylist wouldn’t be easy, but I also knew it would be worth it.

Being part of Monarca truly feels like home. I always say I manifested working here. I’ve always wanted to be in a salon where competition doesn’t exist, where we genuinely support each other. We share our tips, our knowledge, and our growth because we truly want to see each other win.

At Monarca, I feel most supported as a business owner. We get to vent, share advice, and talk through both the wins and the struggles. Entrepreneurship isn’t easy, and having a space where we can navigate it together makes such a difference.

When you sit in my chair, I want you to feel seen, safe, and at peace. Life can be overwhelming, and we carry so much every day. My chair is a place where you can let your guard down, reconnect with yourself, and feel cared for. My goal is for you to leave not just loving your hair, but feeling lighter, more confident, and empowered. There’s nothing more special than watching someone look in the mirror and see themselves with confidence, joy, and self-love.

When I became an independent stylist, I gained freedom but lost community. I felt lonelier than I ever had. I was figuring out entrepreneurship on my own, and without being surrounded by art and creativity, my spark started to fade.

Independence wasn’t the problem.
Isolation was.

I never wanted a traditional salon or to be anyone’s boss. I wanted to create a space rooted in empowerment, not authority. A place where stylists can grow individually while still being part of a team. A salon family built on kindness, shared experiences, and genuine connection. No competition. No comparison. Just girls who get it.

Monarca was born during a season of expansion and new motherhood. I was craving change, community, and girlhood. I knew if I needed this, other stylists did too.

This space is for artists who want freedom without feeling alone. For women who crave creativity, personal growth, and friendships that go beyond the salon walls. A place where you feel safe to be yourself and inspired by the talent around you.

And that energy matters. Because when you walk into Monarca, you don’t just feel the talent.
You feel the care.

Going independent gave me the freedom to choose my hours, set my boundaries, and attract the kind of clients who truly appreciate my work and my personality.

I no longer have to fit into a “standard” salon vibe. I get to fully lean into my artistic side and build a brand around my style and the services I love most, like vivid colors, custom blends, and color blocking.

Being part of Monarca means being part of a community that genuinely supports growth, creativity, and independence. It’s a space where I’m encouraged to be myself, push my artistry, and build something meaningful alongside people who truly care about each other and their craft.

Independence doesn’t have to mean doing everything alone.

I became an independent stylist because I wanted the freedom to take my time with clients without feeling pressure to rush. I wanted control of my schedule and the ability to focus on the services I actually enjoy.

Being part of Monarca means being part of a community that uplifts and supports each other. We’re not in competition here, and I get to chismear with my girls in Spanglish haha!

I feel most supported here as an artist. When I have doubts, my girls are always there to reassure me. When I have a new idea or project, they’re the first ones I tell and the first to hype me up. We have a pretty special group of artists.

In my chair, I want my clients to feel seen and comfortable. I want them to know I truly have their best interest at heart. And I want them to feel confident knowing that even if they can’t get in with me, they can always continue coming to the salon and be taken care of by another amazing artist here.
