This has taken a great deal of thought and many hours to put into words. While I understand that this may be an uncomfortable message for some, I believe it is one that needs to be said.

Before choosing to undergo any procedure or treatment that is being advertised or promoted, please understand the “why,” the risks, and most importantly, who is medically qualified and appropriately supervising the procedure.

At our office, we have made a conscious decision to place patient safety above profit—every single time. There are procedures and treatments that our Medical Director will not support or approve, and there is a reason for that. Medical decisions should be based on patient safety, evidence, proper training, and appropriate medical oversight—not simply on what is being marketed or what is profitable.

The article referenced here is a heartbreaking example of the potential consequences when medical treatments are administered without the appropriate knowledge, supervision, and safeguards in place. A woman lost her life following what may have appeared to be a routine IV infusion—something that emphasizes just how important proper medical expertise and oversight truly are.

As a Registered Nurse with years of hospital experience, I was trained to understand that IV therapy is not something to be taken lightly. Certain infusions require appropriate orders, patient assessment, laboratory values, medication verification, documentation, monitoring, and qualified medical personnel.

Just because a procedure can be marketed does not mean it is appropriate or safe to administer in every setting.

This is exactly why we have chosen not to offer IV therapies in our office. We would rather turn away a service and lose revenue than provide something we do not believe can be performed with the highest level of patient safety.
