fall running is trail season. if you have never tried the trails, i urge you to give it a chance this year. yes, trail shoes help. are they necessary, NO. pick out a loop & enjoy the miles before the greenery turns.

The Rewind v.2
“Ole Reliables…”
This is my 4th pair of Hoka Cliftons. This shoe is the only shoe I really recommend when I get asked where to start. The cushion, paired with stability, with some responsiveness thrown in means a multi-use shoe with the ability to last 500+ miles. After trying almost every other brand for the last 2-3 years, not one has stood up to ole reliables. 🤘🏼

the flannel. 🌲
The Masters have the Green Jacket, but we have a flannel. So think of this 6 year old American Eagle flannel that’s missing two buttons as “The Green Jacket of Delaware Trail Running.” Every year it is passed to the next winner of an adhoc trail race who then treasures and rocks it as they see fit for the next 365 days.
This weekend I will attempt to retain the flannel at the Feral Fox 25k in Maryland. This race is a mashup group of 30 local friends, no race bibs, barely marked trails, running hard in hopes to win an old flannel and bragging rights. If that doesn’t epitomize what trail running is, I don’t know what else does.
