February is Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) Awareness Month ❤️🎗️ — a month deeply personal to us.

Our son, Everhett, was born with a coarctation of the aorta, a congenital heart defect where the aorta is narrowed, making it harder for the heart to pump blood to the body. At just 3 weeks old, he underwent open-heart surgery. If it weren’t for modern medicine, incredible doctors, and the care teams who saved his life, he wouldn’t be here today.

CHDs are the most common birth defect, affecting 1 in 100 babies. Behind the medical terms are NICU days, hospital rooms, constant monitoring, scars, fear, hope, and a strength we never knew existed in such a tiny heart. CHD isn’t something that simply goes away — it requires lifelong care, research, and awareness.
