Similar stories, just different states. ❤️ We’ve been communicating through social media for months, sharing this crazy stroke journey, encouraging each other, and understanding a life neither of us ever expected.
Today, we finally got to meet in person at a Stroke Support Luncheon! 🥹❤️ There’s just something special about meeting someone who truly gets it. So thankful we finally got this moment! 🫶🏼
TURNING A CHORE INTO THERAPY!!
Today, watering the plants became so much more. 🌱
I had him water each plant to work on his vision and concentration, tell me what he was going to do so he could practice saying the whole phrase correctly, count the bushes AND figure out how to control his wheelchair while holding the water hose. 🧠💪🏼
I stood back and watched him work through every little challenge, and I have to say… I was pretty impressed. 🥹🫶🏼
He may have thought he was just doing a chore, but this mama saw a whole lot of hard work and progress. 💙 One little task at a time!🤘🏼
Can’t turn my head for ONE minute! 🤣 I was pulling weeds, looked back, and there he was—determined to bring the trash can back from the road all by himself. 😂🫶🏼
And don’t judge the house or yard… we’re still renovating over here! 🥴🤦🏼♀️

Our Ben is slowly but surely getting his groove back. 💙 His spirits are up and he’s feeling more like himself, but his body is still reminding him that it’s been through a lot since his hospital stay. He’s been pretty wiped out physically, so we’re giving him plenty of time to rest, recover and catch back up. One day at a time, but we’re definitely headed in the right direction! 🙏🏼❤️

There are some moments you just can’t put into words.
Today, for the first time since January 3rd, I got a message from Ben while I was at work. Seeing his name pop up on my phone made my heart want to explode.
To most, it was just a text. To me, it was a miracle and a reminder of just how far he’s come. 🙌🏻🥹❤️

Progress doesn’t always look the way we expect, and that’s okay.
Physically, this may not have been our biggest week… but mentally, we’re absolutely rockin’ and rollin’!!
At least three times this week, Ben has looked at me with the biggest smile and said, “Hey, I’m starting to remember more.” Little memories are finding their way back. He’s been able to look at certain words and actually read them 🙌🏻. And while aphasia is still part of our journey, his conversations are becoming more fluent every day.
His doctors have been so impressed with his progress that they’ve asked us to come back next week for another CT scan to compare images of his brain from immediately after his stroke to where it is now.
Sometimes the biggest victories can’t be seen, but they definitely mean more to me than the physical ones! 🥹🙌🏻🫶🏼
She’ll roll her eyes before she’ll admit how much she really loves him.😏
She isn’t big on feelings, but somehow he knows them all. 🥰
She acts tough, like she doesn’t need anyone… except him.❤️
The smile she saves for him is one you’ll never see anywhere else!😁
And the day she thought she might lose him, the toughest girl I know completely broke.💔
Some bonds don’t need words. They just exist… and theirs is one of the most beautiful I’ve ever witnessed. 💛💛💛
