This shirt couldn’t be more perfect for Ben. 💙

One of his friends surprised him by having it made and sent to him. Watching him wear it so proudly today made my heart happy. He’s been through so much, but he keeps showing up and pushing forward. Huge thanks to Lee Lee Martin for this amazing shirt 🫶🏼🤘🏼

Family isn't always defined by blood.

Sometimes family is the person who chooses to show up every single day, even when life has knocked them down harder than most people could imagine.

Ben may be a future stepdad, but that title doesn't make him any less of a father.

After everything he's endured from his stroke—the physical challenges, the daily struggles, the things he has lost—he still finds a way to be there for the people he loves. He still cheers for the kids, gives advice, offers comfort, and puts family first.

Being a dad isn't about DNA. It's about sacrifice. It's about commitment. It's about loving children as your own and standing beside them no matter what.

I've watched Ben fight battles most people will never understand, yet his love for our family never wavers. He continues to show up when it would be easier to give up. He continues to love when life has given him every reason to focus only on himself.

Blood may make someone a relative, but love, dedication, and selflessness make someone a father.

And if you ask me, those things matter far more.
We are beyond grateful for the man who chose us, loves us, and continues to fight for us every day. ❤️

AND we will continue to fight for him. We all love you Ben. You are an amazing, selfless, kind, giving and the strongest person i know. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧

5 months!! ❤️

What a difference. 😳

It’s been one small step, one hard-fought victory, and about a million prayers along the way. He’s still got work to do, but watching him slowly inch his way back to the old Ben has been pretty incredible.

The comeback is definitely in progress. 💪❤️

Funny thing is, throughout this whole journey, I think I’ve been more emotional than Ben. 😂❤️

The other day I got worked up over something that really didn’t matter, and Ben grabbed my hand and said, “Kaci, it’s just not worth it.”

Here’s a man who has every reason to be frustrated with life, yet he’s the one reminding me to smile, let things go, and focus on the good. His positivity is contagious, and his perspective keeps me grounded.

He reminds me daily that happiness isn’t about having perfect circumstances—it’s about choosing joy anyway.

I’m beyond thankful for this man and the way he continues to inspire me every single day. 🫶🏼

She picked the movie, made the popcorn, and claimed her spot right beside him. 🩷
His pups may always be his #1… but she’s definitely a very close #2. 🥹🫶🏼

Ben got to see his dogs today for the first time since January 3rd, and y’all… he was like a little kid headed to Disney. 🩷🐾
About 10 minutes away he got the biggest smile on his face and said, “Oooohhh shawty, I’m so ready to love on them pups!” 🥹

After everything he’s been through these past few months, seeing that excitement and pure happiness on his face meant everything. Sometimes it’s the little moments that heal the heart the most.

Apologies to our supporters for our short break from Facebook.

This first week home from rehab has been nothing short of CRAZY busy. Between end-of-the-year award ceremonies, school events, graduation celebrations, therapy appointments, and trying to keep life moving for 3 kids… we honestly haven’t stopped for a second. ❤️

We are SO proud of our graduate, Ayden English and also, Skye English and LA English for pushing through such a hard season with grace and strength. Watching them still smile and succeed while our world changed overnight has been emotional beyond words.

We also got some really encouraging news from Ben’s surgeon. His speech improvement has honestly amazed them, and hearing that gave us a little hope and reassurance that all the hard work is paying off. Every word, every sentence, every little improvement matters so much.

But we also received heartbreaking news about Ben’s vision. Due to lack of blood flow from the stroke, both eyes are blind on the right side, and the left eye is also blind on the left side. The only vision he currently has is straight ahead in his right eye with 20/20 focus. Realistically, driving is not going to be an option for him. That reality hit hard.

Caretaking is exhausting in ways people don’t always see. Trying to balance being a full-time caregiver while still being the mom of 3 teenagers who need me every day, and working only 2 full long days, has stretched me mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially.

There are moments I feel strong… and moments I completely fall apart.
The financial burden continues to grow, especially doing this alone with no help from my kids’ father. But somehow we keep waking up every day and doing what has to be done and Ben being there for the kiddos every step of the way no matter how bad he feels.

We are grateful for every prayer, every message, every share, every donation, and every person cheering Ben on. Some days survival itself feels like a victory right now.

Please continue praying for Ben, for healing, for peace, and for strength for all of us as we keep navigating this new normal. 💙
