When history walks onto the Seminar stage… wearing Mary Kay’s clothes. 🩷

One of my absolute FAVORITE moments from Seminar was seeing Jessica Bair, Mary Kay Ash’s great-granddaughter, walk onto the stage wearing one of her great-grandmother’s vintage denim outfits! 👖✨

There was something incredibly special about watching a fourth-generation member of Mary Kay Ash’s family, while hearing stories and seeing pieces of the woman behind the company we know today.

But Jessica isn’t simply carrying a famous last name.

She serves on the Mary Kay Ash Foundation Board of Directors, helping carry forward her great-grandmother’s legacy of enriching women’s lives. The Foundation is celebrating 30 years of supporting research for cancers affecting women and programs working to end domestic violence—and has now invested more than $100 MILLION toward those missions. 🩷

That’s the kind of legacy that gets my attention.

A woman started a company in 1963 with a vision for women…and generations later, her family is still helping carry that vision forward.

It reminded me that what we build today can impact people we may never even meet.

Now THAT makes me want to dream bigger. ✨

A visionary woman 💞

“The go-getter woman, or girlboss, as that type is now known, has worn out her welcome,” Lauren Michele Jackson writes. The girlboss’s first shot of good press, Jackson continues, came from a woman named Mary Kathlyn Wagner Rogers, known more famously as Mary Kay. In 1963, Mary Kay founded her eponymous cosmetics empire. Mary Kay consultants hosted parties called beauty shows, promoting Mary Kay not merely as a series of products but as a life style activated by sharing—selling—the good word of Mary Kay to other women. “To women who had been unlucky for most of their lives, Mary Kay offered a dream that had nothing to do with rescue by a knight in shining armor, strokes of good fortune, or accidents of birth,” Mary Lisa Gavenas writes, in a new biography of Mary Kay.
