Seven years ago, Crystal walked through the doors of Russo’s Barbershop and made history as the first female barber to ever work here. Seven years later… she’s still the only one brave enough to put up with us every day! 😆

In all seriousness, Crystal has been an incredible part of the Russo’s family. She’s survived countless haircuts, endless shop banter, bad jokes, and enough conversations to write a book—and she still shows up with a smile and delivers amazing cuts every day.

Her clients know her for her talent, attention to detail, and the care she puts into every haircut. We’re lucky to have her on the team, and Russo’s wouldn’t be the same without her.

Congratulations on 7 amazing years, Crystal! Thanks for sticking with us—and for proving that a barbershop isn’t just a man’s world. Here’s to many more years of great cuts, great laughs, and pretending to laugh at the our jokes! 😂

The History Behind the Barber Pole 🇺🇸💈

Have you ever wondered why a barber pole is red, white, and blue?

Centuries ago, barbers did much more than cut hair. They were often trusted members of their communities who performed minor medical procedures such as bloodletting and tooth extractions.

The barber pole has its roots in that history:
🔴 Red represented blood.
⚪ White represented the bandages used during procedures.
🔵 Blue has several historical interpretations, including the color of veins or its association with patriotic barber poles in the United States.

Thankfully, today’s barbers focus on what we do best—providing quality haircuts, hot towel shaves, great conversation, and a place where everyone is welcome.

While the tools have changed over the centuries, one thing hasn’t: a barbershop is still a place where craftsmanship, community, and tradition come together.

Why don’t barbers ever get lost?
Because they always know the shortest cut.
