To anyone curious about the recent lawsuit against Olaplex causing breakage and hairloss, here is their official statement, which we at Studio Lox stand behind 100%;
The Olaplex Official Statement
OLAPLEX
To our OLAPLEX Pro community,
We know you’ve heard the rumors on social media so let’s talk about it. Is OLAPLEX damaging hair?
As professionals, we know our hair science but when we hear topics trending on social media and clients asking questions, we need to accurately answer those questions. Well, we’re here to clear up the confusion and provide you with facts!
OLAPLEX products do not cause hair loss, hair breakage or damage.
Our mission is to ensure that every user of our products has healthier and stronger hair. OLAPLEX uses state of the art testing to determine product safety and efficacy. OLAPLEX also complies with good quality assurance practices; meets industry standards in formulation, manufacturing and testing; and utilizes contract manufacturers that comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)—a system for ensuring that products are consistently produced and controlled according to quality standards.
We have full confidence and believe in the safety and efficacy of our products, which are thoroughly tested in-house and by independent third-party laboratories.
OLAPLEX products are safe and effective, as millions of our professional stylists can happily attest. Product complaints are, sadly, a fact of life in the hair care industry, and have been made against other brands in the category for years. OLAPLEX is prepared to vigorously defend our Company, our beloved brand, and our products against baseless accusations.
Common causes of hair loss, breakage or damage.
As professionals, we know there are a wide variety of reasons for hair loss, breakage and damage. This is why consultations with our clients are so important!
As part of a comprehensive consultation professionals should ask their clients about damaging environmental factors, like previous chemical services, over use of heat tools, etc. In addition, there are various medical conditions that can cause hair loss and hair breakage, such as pregnancy, menopause, auto-immune conditions, thyroid disorders, anemia, the aftereffects of COVID, and skin conditions such as psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis. Other facts that can lead to hair breakage or hair loss include pharmaceutical use, diet, and stress.
As responsible professionals, we know the importance of directing anyone who is experiencing consistent, inexplicable hair concerns to consult their doctor or dermatologist to best understand their unique hair and skin needs.
OLAPLEX is NOT a protein replenishing product causing too much protein which can dry hair.
Though OLAPLEX is world famous for its breakthrough patented technology to relink broken disulfide bonds, there is still misinformation being communicated in some professional communities and on social media that OLAPLEX is a protein based replenishing product.
OLAPLEX’s professional products do NOT contain protein.
OLAPLEX products No.4 and No.6 contain minimal hydrolyzed vegetable protein, also known as peptides, at very low levels (0.0025% in No.4 and 0.000625% in No.6). Peptides such as those in OLAPLEX’s No.4 and No.6 are chemically very different than standard proteins, and therefore do not weigh down hair. Our other consumer products do not contain any forms of protein. We encourage you to consider taking our free OLAPLEX professional certification to learn more about our products.

It's Jamie Brunkenhoefers Day! Thank you to everyone who bid and donated to her❤❤
I will be presenting her with the money raised on Tuesday if anyone else wants to donate❣

Please bear with me as this is going to be very lengthy, but worth the read!

I (Gretchen) have been wanting to give back to someone through this entire pandemic since I feel I was truly blessed by a lot of clients during my time off.
I would like to auction off 2: 2-hour appts and 2: 1-hour appts on the first Sunday that I am able to work with ALL proceeds going to Jamie Brunkenhoefer. Why, you ask?
With all the negativity of the Pandemic I'd like to put a positive spin on it.
I was praying for 2 people I did not know who were critically ill due to COVID-19. Little did I know, they were the same person!
On March 23rd, Jamie was hospitalized due to this nasty virus. Leading up to this she had accepted a new nursing job at UPMC and was due to start on March 30th. During some downtime between jobs she visited family in the Breezewood area. Upon returning she felt a little tired with a slight headache but chalked it up to the busyness of her travels.
The next day she was still feeling fatigued and talked to her mom on the phone, telling her she was going to take a nap. Upon waking Jamie went to the bathroom and passed out. When she regained consciousness, she had a difficult time breathing and called her mom and asked her to take her to the ER, which was unlike her. They got to the ER in Youngstown and were the 3rd car in line for the triage tent. By the time they reached the tent, her oxygen saturation was at 85%, which is extremely low. After x-rays showing her lungs were half filled with fluid, she was admitted. This is the last thing she remembers until she was awakened from her induced coma. She was intubated 2 days later and placed into the coma and remained there for 14 days.
An effective part of treatment for COVID-19 when a patient is on a vent, is to put them in the prone (face down) position. The patient should be moved every 2 hours, but Jamie’s body could not tolerate the movement without bottoming out, so they left her in this position, which went on to cause nerve damage in her arms and bedsores on her eyebrows, nose and lips. This has caused some permanent skin loss in those areas.
She was also placed on an ECMO machine for 6 days which takes over the working of the lungs and the heart, cleansing the blood and replacing it back into the body to give her lungs a rest.
After finally getting a negative test for COVID-19, the doctors agreed to do a bronchoscopy on her to clean out her lungs which can be very risky considering the nature of the virus. They also decided to try a different medication on her, which caused an allergic reaction, but they chose to continue it. This is when Jamie finally turned the corner.
To make matters worse, Jamie's mom, Ginger, was hospitalized in a different hospital with COVID-19. Although her hospital stay of 14 days was not as traumatic, she is still left with residual effects. After 2 weeks, Jamie was finally extubated, and a call was placed to her brother. Her brother 3-way called her mother at the other hospital to explain to her what had happened.
Jamie remained in the hospital for 32 days, coming home to 6 hours of physical and occupational therapy per day.
The reason I want to give back to her is because she has been without any income since a week before her nightmare all started.
So please consider placing a bid for any of these 4 appts or making a donation that will go directly to Jamie.

**When placing a bid please say whether you want a 1-hour bid or a 2-hour bid, and the amount you want to bid. The 2 highest bidders will win a spot for the appt length of their choice (1 or 2 hours) in the category they have bid in. Gift certificates are not applicable towards bids.**

Won't you please consider helping me, to help her during this crazy time?

As weeks have dwindled into months we still sit here stuck in the yellow phase! We are still patiently waiting to open our doors to see you all again😢
With the confusion of the Bill being passed last week and State officials telling us to defy the order and open our doors, it's not that simple.
Our licenses are controlled by the State Board of PA, if we go against what the governor is enforcing we could face hefty fines, losing our personal licenses to practice and lose our salon license. This is not something we can risk and we know that the officials who are telling us to defy it would be unwilling to get our livelihood back if we lost it.
In the meantime we can sell retail haircare products and root touch up kits!
We're so sorry that we are unable to see you and make you beautiful again right now, but if everyone does their part hopefully we can very soon!!
So PLEASE practice social distancing, wear your mask, wash your hands and stay home if you don't feel well!
Hopefully this nightmare will end soon😡😡😡
