Acupuncture - trigger point acupuncture ("dry needling") - fire cupping - bodywork - gua sha - nutrition - herbs

Dry Needling, which is a term for trigger point acupuncture that's performed by non-acupuncturists, has officially been removed from a bill proposed in California that would allow Physical Therapists, Chiropractors, and MDs to perform it without going through complete acupuncture training. That's a big win for both acupuncturists and any patient out there who seeks pain relief!
Let's hope this happens in other states- we need to keep our patients safe and protect them from future injuries caused by needling by non-acupuncturists!

Here's another new review for my acupuncture practice in downtown Eugene!

"After trying numerous physical therapy, massage, and medicinal treatments, I had lost all hope for returning back to my standard running regimen. However, after working with John, my mobility and strength are now better than ever! Not only is he outstandingly knowledgeable and skilled as a healer, his capacity for empathy, ability to integrate education into his practice, and highly evident passion for his work and care for his patients made John one of the best practitioners I have seen in any field. I especially appreciated his awareness, thoughtfulness, and intentionality; he wasted no time, never failed to check in, answered all of my questions, and always make sure I felt safe and comfortable. Truly, a transformative and inspiring experience!" (five stars)

Steelers' Watt has surgery for collapsed lung 12/12/2025

Another story about a non-acupuncturist performing trigger point acupuncture, which some are calling Dry Needling, causing injury to the patient. This is exactly why training and experience matters!
PTs and non-acupuncturists can undergo very, very minimal training before they can perform dry needling on anyone (a law got passed this year that will allow PTs to do this in Oregon starting in mid 2026). Acupuncturists have at least 3,000 hours of hands-on training before they can apply for licensure.
Why take the risk and go see someone who doesn't have the training? The non-acupuncturists have renamed and will continue to rename acupuncture techniques, points, and strategies to fit their marketing needs, all while they are trashing the acupuncture profession, claiming acupuncturists are performing "energetic voodoo" and the like. All so they can try to practice acupuncture without the education nor clinical training.
Keep you and your loved ones safe! Inform them about these important facts. Acupuncture is a physical medicine and as such is one of the BEST approaches to healing from acute and chronic pain in a quick manner.

Here's a fun fact. Did you know that in 1982 Miles Davis suffered a stroke that left him unable to play his trumpet? THE Miles Davis now had a paralyzed right hand! The doctors didn't know what to do for him.
How did he regain full use of his hand so he could play again? Yep- acupuncture! Miles got regular treatment sessions each week for three months and was back to normal. He then encouraged proper neuromuscular firing and memory by taking up drawing and painting, which he learned to enjoy to the point that he had art showings in galleries.

Acupuncture is well-known by many to be the first line in recovering from Traumatic Brain Injury such as stroke, concussion, and diseases like Parkinson's. In fact, studies show that acupuncture can reverse strokes faster than any other medical approach!

I've worked on a number touring professional musicians. They've all had great results even with the endless energy they put out to travel, play, and record. You'd be surprised how much touring beats them up!

If you're interested in pursuing relief from pain, stress, and dysfunction, there are appointments available in downtown Eugene OR awaiting you. Please contact me for a free consultation and/or scheduling!

Here's another fresh review of my acupuncture practice!
"I went to John for TMD issues and noticed significant improvement after the first session, I haven’t had a headache since going to him which I usually get tension headaches from my neck and jaw being so tight almost everyday, my jaw doesn’t constantly hurt and I can open my mouth without as much pain. I truly recommend going to John, especially if you want quick noticeable improvement. (FIVE STARS)"
I am grateful for such kind testimonials!

Today Oregon will vote to see whether or not non-acupuncturists can insert needles into people's bodies as therapy. If approved, Physical Therapists may use an acupuncture technique in their practices without ever having trained in acupuncture.
This is because of one reason - money. The PTs can bill for the procedure which adds to their fees which the insurance companies will gladly pay them for.
What's the problem with this? 8-16 hours course for the PTs where they actually only use needles (usually for the first time) for about 4-5 hours over the course. Then they can go offer what they call "needle insertion" or "dry needling" to their clients. Acupuncturists complete 3,000 of clinical training before applying for licensure.
Injuries that have been caused by needle insertion are almost always done by PT's and in fact I've only heard of 3 or 4 done by an acupuncturist in the last 15 years; not the same for non-acupuncturists.
Please, if you live in Oregon, feel free to email your senators about this. Yes, it must be done right away!
Details are in the comments below.
Thank you for paying attention!
