My baby girl turned a year old in February. Any other moms feel like it was also their “birth” day on their baby’s 1st birthday?!

I think my postpartum has finally mellowed out. You don’t really know how much it affects you until you start to come out of it and realize that you’re coming back to yourself. Or maybe I am still in it and don’t realize it? It’s definitely its own kind of twilight zone.

Becoming a mom, being a business owner + stylist is a different level of mental and physical load. Nothing is ever a perfect balance but I can always strive for it because how will I ever get close if I never reach for it?

Thank you to my team and my clients for giving me grace as my world completely changed. I know my current work schedule doesn’t work for everyone so thank you for trusting my stylist recommendations or continuing to work with my schedule. Everyone that works and every person that walks through our doors is so special to me, so thank you!

I am soaking up all these baby moments as my girl transitions into a toddler. I am just in awe everyday as she takes on the world and I am lucky enough to see it through her eyes.

We are both healthy, happy and soaking up all of the newborn snuggles. Transitioning to MOM is a whirlwind of emotions, and I am loving every minute of it. 🥹🩷

I don’t have my schedule open for clients just yet, but if you are a regular of mine you will be hearing from my team in the spring to get scheduled on my books. In the meantime, my fellow stylists are all taking new clients and each one of them are wonderful!

I am officially on maternity leave and will be taking a break from hair until June. As of now, I do not know what my schedule is coming back after baby. If you are a regular client of mine, you are on my list of clients to contact when my schedule goes live.

Thank you to all of my clients who thought of baby and bought or made gifts for us. 🥹 You helped make this time even sweeter. I’m truly so appreciative of every single one of you, and for giving me grace during this wild time of pregnancy and everything that comes with it.

I won’t be completely MIA. Being an owner of a salon means you never get to stop being an owner, so you may see me pop in from time to time throughout my maternity leave. Hopefully I get to see a few of you while I’m at the salon.

Going into this chapter with a new title of Mom, feels wild. I am planning on soaking up all of the baby snuggles and moments during this sweet time of motherhood. If you don’t hear from me right away, you know what I’m doing.

Hey, It’s me! If you’re new here, I’m Kaila! If you have been here for a while, Hiiii again!

I’m still creating beautiful hair behind the chair, and yes, I’m still the owner of .

Along with my other titles of wife and dog mom, I’m going to be adding a new title of Mommy 🥹💛 My husband and I couldn’t be more excited to be embarking on this new chapter together as parents!

I am due February 1 and my plan is to work into January. I have VERY LITTLE openings between now and when I start my maternity leave so if you have been wanting to get on my books, do so now.

I have an amazing team of stylists at HairColumn and while I’m on maternity leave I am placing everyone with the stylist who I think would be the best fit for them. Don’t worry, you will all be taken care of! If you want a recommendation, don’t hesitate to reach out and I can give one that’s right for you!

Do you know the gender?
NOPE! We are keeping it a surprise until Baby is born.

How are you doing standing on your feet all day?
So far it’s been manageable with really comfortable shoes. We will see how it goes as I get into my third trimester.
✨ Any moms out there want to give shoe recommendations for someone who stands all day and pregnant?

How long will you be on maternity leave?
The current plan is to start doing hair again in June. I will be popping in from time to time for owner duties, so you will still see me around. I’ll make sure to say hi and show you all the baby pictures!

New techniques in color keep my creativity and drive going within the beauty world. There has been so many different techniques in the 16 years I’ve been doing hair. Some were trends that stuck, some didn’t, and some are coming back around. For someone who craves change but also succeeding and is comfortable going out of my comfort zone- I love a good challenge and a new technique.

Spring is coming and I am loving the conversations I’m having with every guest that sits in my chair. It’s that time of year that my guests are planning for their next appointment to go lighter, bolder and shake off the winter funk.

I went to school on a whim when I was 18 years old. Graduated at 19 and have never looked back.

I remember a time when I said I couldn’t wait to be at least 5 years into my career. Feeling like I would have more experience under my belt and I would know what I was really doing and have it all figured out.

16 years later, and I’m still learning new tricks and I don’t always know what I’m doing. Keeping it fresh and current always comes with some growing pains, but for someone who loves change, I wouldn’t imagine I would still be in this career if I stayed stagnant.

In 16 years, I have learned a lot about life, careers, people, creating, but most of all, about myself. Staying open for whatever comes my way and making adjustments as they come.

Traveling opens my mind and inspires me to do even more within life and business, making me show up better for those around me. The world is full of so many wonders and I want to explore them all!

I celebrated with the beautiful babes of HairColumn this past weekend. To say I’m lucky to work with this crew of talented women is an understatement. Building a team is challenging. Finding people that align in values and hungry for growth in this industry is not always easy to find, but you know what?! I found it with this group of women!

Huge shoutout to .eats and Travis for preparing an excellent meal for us as we wined, dined, laughed, loved and bonded deeper. If you are in need a private chef for your event or elopement, I HIGHLY recommend Dakota and his team!

We all have had many wins, changes, challenges and insane amounts of growth in 2022. We are going into 2023 empowered and no matter where my crew’s journeys take them, I’m glad to be a stepping stone in their career.
