Throwback Thursday takes us down to the garden level, back when the 1886 Crescent Hotel echoed with the rumble of duckpin bowling. Guests of the "premier resort hotel of the Ozarks" filled their afternoons with teas, dances in the ballroom, tennis, shuffleboard, bridle trails, and two bowling lanes tucked downstairs.

Those lanes never left.

During renovations, crews uncovered the original duckpin bowling lanes hidden beneath the existing floor. Rather than cover them back up, the floor was lowered to expose the wooden lane stripes, which are now the design focal point of the salon side of the New Moon Spa & Salon

Next time you're in for a cut, color, mani or pedi, look down. You're standing where a ball rolled more than a century ago.
