Okay the leopard Crocs Dylan platform clog and I cannot stop staring at them. That sepia and leopard together is so good. Brown jeans have been beating out my black ones all fall and I’m not even a little sorry about it.

They’re warmer than black and more finished than blue denim, so they go a lot more places than people think. Same pair, three ways:

1. school pickup and errands
Cream cropped sweatshirt, black belt through the loops, white sneakers. When your top is oversized, belt it. Otherwise the whole outfit loses its shape and you just look like you gave up (been there). I also cuffed the hem so the sneakers actually get seen.

2. the office
Black short sleeve knit, buttoned and tucked all the way in, skinny leather belt. The loafers and the headband are both leopard, and that’s the trick. Brown can read accidental on its own, so pull one warm print through the look and suddenly it’s on purpose. Leave these full length so they break right on the shoe.

3. date night
Chambray top with the bow ties, half tucked so the peplum still has movement, pearl mary janes, checkered bag. Blue denim over brown is the pairing everyone skips and it’s honestly the best one in here.

The cheat code with brown: pick your shoe first, then match your belt to it. That one thing makes the outfit look styled instead of thrown together.

square toe ballet flats are doing a lot of heavy lifting in my fall closet right now. These are the Naturalizer Carla from the 27 EDIT line, and the pitch is basically a slipper wearing a ballet flat costume. Premium leather upper, smooth lining, extra cushioning, and Contour+ Comfort technology that Naturalizer builds into the shape of the shoe. Half inch heel, so there's a little lift without committing to an actual heel. There's a back pull tab too, which sounds like a small thing until you're standing in your entryway trying to get out the door. Fall styling is where the square toe earns its keep. Straight leg jeans with a cropped hem. Trousers and a tucked knit. A midi skirt with sheer tights when it drops below fifty. They come in leather, metallic leather or suede, and honestly the metallic is the one I'd grab for holiday stuff later.
