I will never forget September 11th, 2001. I remember being in the fourth grade, and our homeroom teacher had escorted us to Art Class. The school was quieter that day. We walked into the Art room and the lights were off, the tv was on, and Mrs. White had unlocked the cabinets for all the supplies. She said “make art if you want, but this is important”. No formal art lesson that day.
I was a fourth grader. I had no clue what was happening on the tv. I knew it was bad though. Parents were collecting kids from school early. I learned a lot of new words very quickly. “Terrorism”. “Patriotism.” “War.”
The significance of that moment in the fourth grade never really hit me until I visited the Ground Zero Memorial in New York City when I was 17.

Before and after… this is the most glorious cheesecake I’ve ever made 🤩
Sweet and salty crust with pretzels and graham crackers, classic cheesecake filling (with a twist), Grand Marnier-infused dark chocolate syrup, bourbon-infused salted caramel syrup, flaky black salt to finish.
No, I’m not sharing the recipes. It’s a secret. 😅
