This weeks product of the week is BushBalms After Dark Brightening Gel!

👀 Let’s talk histamine reactions👀

When waxing it is normal to experience a little redness and irritation, especially during your first wax. This is called a histamine reaction. It is defined as an inflammatory response triggered when your immune system releases histamine in your tissues. It can cause itchiness, redness, and raised warm bumps.

When getting waxed, it is considered a trauma to your hair follicles. This can cause those angry little red bumps, a.k.a. histamines to make an appearance. In the pictures below, you can see that this persons underarm has had a histamine reaction to waxing. This is completely normal and the redness was gone by the time she left. Histamine reactions vary from person to person and can last from a couple of minutes to a couple of hours.

There are things I do in the treatment room to help with this. If I noticed that your skin is super inflamed, I will do something called high frequency, which helps kill surface bacteria, and helps with bringing down the redness. The products I also use help with these reactions as well by calming the skin which can bring down redness.

So if you see any before and after pictures and you notice these little red bumps now you know why! You can comment or DM me if you have any questions so you can be prepped for your next wax.
