transparency hour: one of my worst habits is comparing myself to others 💔 it only makes sense that this habit finds its way into my career as well 💅🏼 the nail industry is suuuuuper vast and the talent is ENDLESS 👩🏼‍🎨

scrolling through social media and seeing masterpiece after masterpiece… i would be lying if i said it wasn’t my instinct to:
☑️ compare my work to others
☑️ wonder why i didn’t think of something first
☑️ feel like i’m not doing enough

i have to remind myself every single day of my life that this behavior is reflective of my hyper-critical upbringing and does NOT align with my values. these were TAUGHT behaviors and i do not have space for them anymore. 🚫

art is subjective and that i didn’t join this career to be competitive 🥊 this industry is about art, authenticity, mindfulness, intention, self-care, and JOY 🧡
•
it’s so important to empower and celebrate artists’ individuality- including our own ❤️‍🩹 talent isn’t pie! someone else’s strengths don’t take away from yours 🥧 (i do be liking me some pie tho)

with it being valentine’s day, i want to show some love to my fellow nail techs 💐 what we do betters people’s lives and matters ✨ we deserve to be proud of our own work. so take some time to show a little self-love (even if it doesn’t come naturally) 💕

I already have to pay federal income taxes to a corrupt, fascist, authoritarian government. I sure as hell am not also going to give my art, labor, or kindness to anyone who supports that violence. No N***s. Ever.

this set was so FUN to create for so many different little reasons! ☀️ i’ve really leaned into hand- sculpting tiny charms lately because LOOK HOW CUTE AND TEENY THEY ARE 🥹 it takes a lot of patience, but just know that i am giggling and smiling the entire time 🧡 they look like instruments for ants! 🐜

i’m also a musician so this set is essentially a passion crossover episode! 🎉 before i joined the beauty industry i actually went to college for music composition 🎼 i played trombone at the collegiate level and composed several instrumental solos and duets! nowadays i just come home from my loooong salon days and unwind by playing my piano 🎹 it may not have been the career i winded up doing, but music will always be a huge part of who i am 💕
