Curls always end up lasting so much better after you leave the salon? There’s probably a reason why! Here’s a few of my favorite tips and tricks I do to get your curls to last all night:

1. NOT USING PRODUCT🙅🏻‍♀️
If your hair is freshly washed, it’s slippery! It’ll drop a curl ASAP. To give it a little hold, prep the hair with mousse and blowdry it in. You can also give the hair added hold by spraying texture spray lightly throughout the section before, and after you curl your hair. And don’t forget that heat protectant!

2. BRUSHING YOUR CURLS BEFORE THEY FULLY COOL OFF💆🏻‍♀️
Give your curls 10-15 minutes to cool down after you finish curling them! When hair is warm, the hydrogen bonds in the hair break and when it cools off, the bonds reform. This allows the hair to fully set in its new shape! The longer you let the curls cool, the more likely they will be to last.

3. YOUR HAIRCUT ISN’T SUPPORTING THE STYLE💇🏻‍♀️
The longer hair is, the more weight it carries. Long hair isn’t the issue, but the weight within it might be. Curls need movement to survive. Without it, gravity will work against you. Adding in longer layers would lighten up the haircut while still maintaining length and help support the curls.

In your 20’s, you’ll have an urge to open your own salon suite… It’s very important that you listen to that urge.

Taking the leap and opening my suite was one of the scariest things I think I’ve done. Like losing sleep, overthinking every little thing kinda scary. If I knew how sweet the suite life was, I’d have done this years ago! If you’ve thought about it, then take the leap because you won’t regret it. I feel more inspired, creative, and genuinely excited to grow in a place that’s mine🤍
