It's raining outside but really starting to look beautiful inside! We're just still missing our patients (both literally and figuratively). We're still tying up loose ends and putting in final touches as we prepare for our opening next week.

We know direct primary care (DPC) is a new concept for many but it has so many amazing advantages. It helps PCPs to have the relationship with patients that they deserve. It helps to break down the barriers that insurance companies and big organizations have put up. If you have any questions about DPC, whether you're interested in becoming a patient or are just curious, don't hesitate to reach out.

We are only a couple weeks away from opening our doors. Everything is moving so quickly at this point and we are getting more excited every day! We can't wait to be fully up and running. We will be in touch soon to start getting you on our schedules!

Why does Dr. Lou track body composition? The proportion of fat, muscle, bone and water that make up your body weight tells a much more complete story about your health than the number on the scale. Two different people with the exact same weight or BMI can have dramatically different health profiles depending on how their body is composed. Low muscle mass/high body fat is a much better predictor of heart and metabolic disease and overall mortality than weight itself!
Weight loss medications such as GLP-1s have been implicated in muscle loss- if you are on one, please ensure that you are tracking your body composition!

And we're officially in! We picked up our keys today. We're so excited to make this beautiful space our own. Stay tuned for updates!

The best moments in primary care often aren't during the exam— they're during the conversations.
They're the moments when a patient finally understands what's been going on with their health, feels heard, and knows there's a plan moving forward.
Those conversations are becoming harder to have in our current traditional Healthcare systems. It's been difficult to watch as big healthcare systems seem to move further away from care that is focus primarily around the patient.
We believe healthcare should be personal, accessible, and built on real relationships.

We would love to hear about what has frustrated you or what you would like see done differently in the Primary Care settings so that we can help to make changes that help to reinstill trust in Healthcare to our community.

Do I still need insurance?

Thinking about joining a Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice and wondering if you still need health insurance? Here’s the scoop:

DPC is a subscription-based model—you pay a monthly fee for unlimited access to most primary care services, like checkups, preventive care, chronic disease management and sick visits. It’s a great way to get more personal attention and easier appointments with your doctor.

However, DPC doesn’t cover everything. It does not include hospital stays, surgeries, emergency room visits, prescription drugs, or seeing specialists. That’s why having a high-deductible health insurance plan (or another form of major medical coverage) is still crucial to protect against large, unexpected medical expenses.

Some people consider health care sharing ministries as another option, but keep in mind these are not insurance. There’s no guarantee all your costs will be covered, especially for serious or emergency situations.

In short: DPC is an excellent choice for everyday healthcare, but it’s not a replacement for insurance. Combining both gives you comprehensive coverage and peace of mind.

If you have questions about how DPC works or how it fits with insurance, send us a message!
